The controversial Jerusalem String Bridge has been causing traffic jams for some time, and it appears the worst is not over as engineers promise the bridge’s flaws will be repaired and other work will be ongoing towards it’s completion. The light rail system according to the latest predictions will not begin to roll until 2010.
The overall collective length of all the ‘strings’ is 10,000 meters.
The bridge can support 630 tons, 4 trains full to capacity.
The bridge itself weighs in at 430 tons.
The mast is 118 meters high
The bridge is 360 meters in length.
The bridge occupies 33,700 square meters
Jerusalem City Hall announced that Herzl Boulevard will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday nights, June 4-5, to permit ongoing work. Ongoing construction will also result in many changes in traffic patterns.
