Chevron Leaders Call Latest Accusations “Provocations”

Once again, Arabs in the Chevron area are pointing a finger at Jews, alleging armed persons in the Kiryat Arba area vandalized vehicles, smashed car windows and engaged in other destructive activities.

Chevron community officials are calling the allegations “provocations from the anarchists,” referring to the radical left-wing activists who seem focused on stirring up the situation in the Holy City, stirring up conflict between the Jews and Arabs in the area.

According to the report, some 15 vehicles were damaged, along with homes and other property, stating the group covered their faces and some were brandishing weapons.

“They hurled rocks and metallic bars at Arab homes and property, resulting in heavy damage. IDF soldiers and TIPH (international observers) were witnesses to the event,” the report quoting Arab residents states.

Chevron’s Jewish community officials explain that yes, Jewish youths did indeed throw stones, responding to attacks against them. They explain the Arabs throw the rocks, well-aware there will be a response, and they then film the response as their “proof” to the attack.

“Our youths will not take the blows, but it is important for them not to retaliate in front of the [cameras] of the anarchists,” read the statement.
