March of the Living to be Shortened – Price to be Lowered

Israel’s Ministry of Education has decided to shorten the March of the Living trip to the Nazi death camps in Poland to five days from seven, and as a result, will make the package more affordable to a larger number of students. The ministry submitted its report to the committee responsible for investigating the details of the annual trip, explaining the shorter trip will permit charging each student NIS 1,500 less.

Ministry Director-General Shlumit Amichai explains that the ministry prefers a situation in which more students are able to participate, and if shortening it and making it less expensive works, she supports the move.

Moti Maroz, who heads the ministry committee, explains the two days will still be part of the trip, but they will be at home, in Israel. During the two days, students will prepare for the travel to the death camps, giving them a more comprehensive preparatory period, and even those students not traveling to Europe will take part in the two days in Israel, providing something for everyone.
