Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is described by Israeli national security sources as an “empty entity” who is not truly leading the regime amid ongoing instability.

Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who was killed in an Israeli strike on February 28, is said to be presiding over what officials call a “misfunctioning” leadership structure.

“The new leader is an empty entity,” defense analyst Kobi Michael said. “Mojtaba Khamenei does not appear in public… he does not control or lead the regime… The current Iranian leadership is broken, confused and is almost misfunctioning.”

According to reports, Mojtaba narrowly avoided death during the strike that killed his father, leaving the compound shortly beforehand. Leaked audio from a March 12 meeting allegedly indicates he sustained a minor leg injury.

Since assuming leadership, Mojtaba has not appeared publicly, with only a written message broadcast on state television warning of continued conflict and calling on Gulf nations to shut down U.S. bases.

Conflicting reports have circulated regarding his condition, with some claiming he is critically injured, while Iranian officials insist he remains in good health.

Meanwhile, Israeli strikes have continued targeting senior Iranian figures, including top official Ali Larijani and Basij militia leader Gholamreza Soleimani, as part of what analysts describe as a sustained effort to weaken the regime’s leadership structure.
