Jerusalem Police Chief Meets with Rav Usher Weiss Shlita

ow.jpgJerusalem Police Chief Aaron Franco on Wednesday met in the home of Dayan Rav Usher Weiss Shlita, who heads the Machon Minchas Osher L’Torah Darchei Torah Yeshiva. The meeting followed an incident that occurred in the Rav’s yeshiva on Friday night. One person was stabbed and moderately injured and a second listed as serious, the result of a beating from ‘at-risk youths’ who entered the Ramot, Jerusalem yeshiva complex on shabbos. Also present were Jerusalem Councilman Shlomo Rosenstein and Yitzchak Pindrus.

Commander Franco briefed Rav Osher on the investigation, and general police efforts to maintain law and order in Ramot.

Rosenstein told the media it was a productive meeting as per all involved. Rav Weiss told the commander that with one hand those responsible must be punished while the other hand must draw them towards us, with warmth, in the hope of bringing them back into the fold and carefully acting as not to ruin their prospects for a future.

Rav Osher stressed he do not want to discard them, that they are members of the community and he remains concerned regarding their future.
