In his comments on the Har Bracha Hesder Yeshiva affair, Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger questioned in Rabbi Eliezer Melamed violated any laws, and if so, why the state attorney general is not involved. The rabbis seemed quite aware this was not the case, realizing no laws were broken, seeking to highlight the absurd of the situation, all stemming from a rosh yeshiva expressing an opinion publically.

Rav Metzger also stated that it is unclear to him just why students must suffer as a result of a rosh yeshiva openly stating his position.
