How About Some Good Will from America to Israel

With the White House and State Department constantly calling on Israel to exhibit good-will to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), the Knesset has turned to the White House in a similar gesture.

Members of the Knesset lobby on behalf of Jonathan Pollard have sent a letter to Vice President Joe Biden during his visit, pointing out Mr. Pollard is not in his 25th year of imprisonment for his ‘crimes’, assisting Israel, an American ally.  It is also pointed out that now would be a most appropriate time for such a good-will act by the United States as Pesach the holiday of freedom approaches.

Reports indicate that Yehonatan [ben Malka] Pollard’s health has recently taken a turn for the worse, also mentioned in the letter to the vice president.

The letter was spearheaded by the head of the Pollard lobby, MK (Yisrael Beitenu) Uri Ariel, and signed by party colleague Yaakov Katz. Dalia Itzik signed from Kadima, as did Likud MK Ze’ev Elkin and Bayit HaYehudi MKs Robert Ilatov and Zevulun Orlev; Orit Noked from Labor, Avraham Michaeli from Shas and Eliezer Menachem Moses from Yahadut HaTorah.

Ilan Ghilon who chairs the radical left-wing Meretz faction refused to sign.

  1. Are you for real ????

If nothing was able to be accomplished when Bush was president, despite a concerted effort, don’t even think that there is a possibility (through ‘natural’ means)of Obama Inc even considering this. The Democrats have historically taken Jews for granted…and you can thank those frum fools who voted for Obama for reinforcing this idea. Of course, ‘Lev Melochim B’yad Hashem’…but that requires great nissim.

  2. Some people call Pollard a ‘traitor’ but he was never charged with or convicted of treason.

Some respond “You can be a traitor anyway”.

True but not in a legal sense and in Pollards case not in any sense.

Some have said he gave away American intelligence and secrets to Russia and to the Chinese.

I have never seen proof of any of this.

From what I have heard, all it seems Pollard did was to provide Isarel with strategic information that America had promised them anyway, and then reniged on.

Again I have never seen any solid proof that he ever did more then that and if that is ‘all’ he did, it hardly makes him any kind of ‘traitor’.

    Did he commit a crime?
Sure, but is it automatically treason, no it is not.

I think he has served enough time and is certainly no threat to US security.

The president is a big threat to US security, not Pollard.

  3. the lockbie bomber is out of prison in scotland and back in Libyia because of “health” he was suppose to have cancer and died by it was a lie
over 265 dead and he walks and POLLARD sits american justice toward Israel

  4. #4 It’s in the Constitution where it talks about the right to face your accuser and have all the charges brought out in court.

Besides how much clearance do I need, to know whether claims that we have all HEARD, are true or not?

  5. Flatbush Bubby,

You have no idea what secrets Pollard betrayed to Israel — unless you are Rafi Eitan posting on a pseudonym, or Pollard himself. Neither of them is talking and nobody else knows.
