Israel to release 250 Palestinian Security Prisoners

ap cover.jpgFollowing Monday’s meeting between Prime Minister Olmert and Palestinian Presidents Abbas, Israel announced its intention to release 250 Palestinian prisoners ‘without blood on their hands’, as a goodwill gesture. The list of prisoners is subject to juducial review. If approved, prisoners will be released into the territories on Friday.

Deputy Prime Minister Avigdor Lieberman expressed his outrage to Olmert’s plan “”Any attempt to strengthen Abbas is doomed to fail. We need to look beyond Abbas toward the future leadership, the next generation in the territories”. He also said “Name one thing Abbas has done to deserve such grand gestures. Has he arrested wanted men? Rounded up firearms? Fought against terrorism? You can’t strengthen a zero, it will always equal zero.”

  1. Dvorah:

How about: it is proven time and again that the recidivism rate among released terrorist is very high, which threatens the lives of Jews?

  2. I was nauseous before; this news only made things worse. Who (and what) more should we give back, Olmert? Haven’t we (read, YOU) learned our lesson long before today’s new (but really really old), absurdly optimistic, and utterly foolish “goodwill gesture”? This so-called gesture defies all logic.

    Excuse me while I puke.

  3. Worthwhile rally today in Manhattan, to protest our kidnapped soldiers who are NOT being released. Glad that over 7,000 people were able to give chizuk and support to the Goldwasser family who are traveling the world trying to gain release of these boys. B’Hatzlacha.

  4. I had no idea there was such a rally planned. Where was this posted? B”H though that others are better informed than me.

  5. It was just announced that the PA rejected the list because they had not had any input into selecting those to be released. However, the Israeli Government announced it would release them anyway.

Abba Eban: “The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.”

Addendum: …but the Israeli Government is too stupid to take advantage of the missed opportunity!
