Iran’s Navy claims the USS Truxtun and USS Mason attempted to enter the Persian Gulf without Iranian authorization and were met with anti-ship missile fire, forcing them to turn back toward the Sea of Oman.

Iran also claims the USS Tripoli was forced to withdraw from the area and warned that any returning U.S. vessels could face engagement by longer-range missile systems.
