Waterbury: Vandalism near the Yeshiva

shattered window.jpgAccording to a report in today’s Rep-Am, members of the Waterbury yeshiva community say they’re concerned about growing vandalism near the Yeshiva.

At least five windows at the Yeshiva have been smashed with rocks in recent weeks. Members of the community also say vandals have struck their private homes and cars.

Community members say the vandalism is not overtly anti-Semitic, and they don’t know whether their faith has made them a target. Several reported hearing anti-Semitic slurs from teenagers in a pickup truck near Randolph Avenue Friday night.

Police are aware of vandalism in the area, they say, though it’s not reported more than in other neighborhoods.
