Im Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and I want to wish the entire Jewish community of New York a Shana Tova during this High Holy Day season. The Jewish holidays are a time of deep reflection and examination of the year behind us, and an opportunity to use new wisdom to look forward on the New Year with optimism and hope. It is a time where parents teach their children the meaning of tradition, and the importance of family and togetherness. We in the Jewish community look forward to celebrating the holiday of Sukkot; I recently defended the right of a TriBeCa congregation to erect a Sukkah in a city park, because I believe that all religions have the right to observe traditions within their New York communities. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sukkot holiday, and may 5772 be a year that brings unity, prosperity and peace.
