2. Every time a news item about this sad individual appeared on YWN, some were commenting that he is a pig and doesn’t deserve any attention, while others frothed at the mouth regarding his enormous righteousness, holiness, and his undergoing גלות השכינה itself!!
   A smaller group of posters had to mix in the State of Israel and its incessant persecution of this particular rabbi, for whichever Zionist aims a conspiracist could barf up.
   The very unpleasant truth is that his holiness admitted in open court that his actions would have carried סקילה and שריפה were the סנהדרין in existence today.
   While חז״ל teach us that a זקן נואף is a particularly loathsome person, I am not going to judge this old man, without knowing all the tribulations of his life, and what led him to fall so precipitously. Perhaps he has already done תשובה שלמה, and כל הגדול מחבירו יצרו גדול הימנו to begin with.
   What is pathetic and a cause for רחמנות is the horde of misguided שוטים פחותים ורקים, who made absolute idiots of themselves, following this adulterer all over the Earth, neary rioting in various countries to protect him from just punishment, while beating their chests and proclaiming his perfect innocence. Whence such blind foolishness and disregard for truth?
   Perhaps the rabbi hasn’t educated his followers all too well, or, much worse, he has.

3. I’m curious why YWN, who is generally fair & balanced, did not report on the plea deal/sentence; nor did you post his apologies and admitting guilt. As much as you honored “rav” Berland, and made much of his innocence, you are very quiet now that he confessed. And note how the confession came after a sweetheart plea deal.

   Moderators Note: You missed those stories. YWN has been reporting this sad story since the day Rabbi Berland fled Israel, and YWN reported on his running around the globe from one country to the next.
