At the start of the al-Aqsa Intifada seven years ago, the area of Kever Yosef in Shechem was widely talked about. In short, a Border Policeman was killed and the Kever was abandoned by the IDF. Over the years, grievances have been expressed over the abandoned and dirty state of the Kever, and the way the site has been violated by Arabs.
Tires have been burnt there, and a large portion of garbage has been dumped on the site.
This past Motzei Shabbos, Breslov Chassidim – who constantly visit the site – were helped by Palestinians in cleaning up the Kever.
The members of the committee in charge of the clean-up told Ynet: “we thank Knesset Member Meir Porush (UTJ) for his help in the matter”, and said they hoped fixed security would be placed on the site during the day to safeguard its newly improved state.

How nice… it seems to much to hope that this is indicative of anything more than a little more hope though…

the israeli govt constantly refuses to guard the kever, though its officially allowed to under terms of the oslo (mis)agreement. in fact the breslovers who go every rosh chodesh are arrested by the israeli army.
