    If she gets her way… should govt only approve certain type? Would govt be allowed to limit the frequency of use? Or can anyone just get it over the counter and resell it on ebay?

    The logistics dont make sense and i think thats why he was taking a quick jab at her because the whole thing sounds like a joke.

    I think even learning is forbidden during Chazaras HaShas. So how will it help to switch one for the the other? And what if someone is learning on his cell phone?

    As long as you have traffic you can make money from it. Maybe get targeted ads from advertisers who want to target teachers.

    Coffee addict,

    Rashi says tzadik ben tzadik but doesn’t explain why that’s better. According to one expansion that I saw is that by giving a child to Yitzhak Hashem was giving a grandson to Avrohom. So it was because of both of their merits not just because Yitzhak was greater than Rivkah.

    If you have a chance go to a Jewish pharmacy and they can transfer the medicine to Lasher capsules. Or speak to your LOR about it because it’s really different for every case.

    For lowest avg I guess you can change if statement to

    And change in the beginning

    I was joking about the island i wanted to see how many people heard of it before. Anyway your answer should be something like this:

    //in the begining add

    int max=0;

    int highestPlayer;

    //then right after you know playerAverage do this

    if(playerAverage>max)

    {

    max = playerAverage;

    highestPlayer=x;

    }

    //right before writting out team average add this

    System.out.println(“Player with the highest average: ” + highestPlayer);

    Goq,

    I hear where you are coming from but i think the difference is that Asian language can be spoken by anyone from any country/culture/religion. So when we make these jokes we aren’t making fun of any particular type of people.

    The same way we make fun of English language with jokes like:

    You park in a driveway and drive on a parkway.

    Your nose may run and your feet may smell.

    If con is the opposite of pro then what’s opposite of congress?

    ca,

    I dont think its lifnei eeveir at all. Would you hire someone who is a smoker? Would you pay rent to someone who is a smoker?

    When you give a person money its his choice what to do with it. You can daven so you money will lead people to do good things but you are not responsible if they choose otherwise.

    >Giving money to someone who’s just shaking a pushka because they >heard Jews give money on Friday afternoons, and then that person >goes home laughing, is sadly, not fulfilling the mitzvah of

    >tzedakah.

    I disagree because as far as you are concerned they are asking because they need it so you are obligated to give. Generally, I think the less we judge others the less Hashem will judge us.

    >Once I find out the person buys cigarettes I have a good excuse

    >not to give him tzedaka “poor” or not

    Is that your criteria or Hashem’s?

    Is it better to give to someone you believe doesn’t need it?

    Yes the mitzvah is to give regardless whether the person needs it or not. And as far as i remember you can give the smallest coin to satisfy this mitzvah. However, i personally think its disrespectful to give too little.

    The problem of striping the bed is that the room looks bad until the hosts gets a chance to do laundry which can be middle of the week.

    I think its better to do the bed in a neat way but maybe not exactly the way it was to show which bed you’ve used.

    in reply to: torah, bechira, choice #917827

    From our point of view we have a choice but from Hashem’s point of view we dont.

    Example: You are about to do something and then all of a sudden (based on your previous experience or learning or emotions) you realize that you shouldn’t be doing it and you stop yourself.

    It took you time to come up with that decision not to do it. So you feel like you made a choice.

    But for Hashem it was instant at the very beginning when you got the original idea to do it Hashem already knew how you’ll feel about it and what memories it will trigger and based on that you wont end up doing this action.

    soliek,

    What are you talking about? I also agree that someone who abuses should go to jail but i was talking about someone who is innocent and happens to be accused.

    Read the article in Forward and notice that the big papers will not write about false accusations but they all wrote a story when that Rabbi was accused.

    in reply to: Articel on NY Post Web-site on religious Jews child abuse #832359

    Why should we err on the side of the children? As long as the person is removed from children why should we risk putting innocent person in jail and ruining his family? Is it fair to his children?

    I understand that if there is enough evidence people should go to the police im not against that but make sure to get enough evidence first.

    Also, for some reason Jewish community feels it needs to force the person in jail at all costs. There are many cases where the Jewish Community or our activists made a big deal if someone got a plea bargain or low sentence so now the DA makes sure to over judge every case.

    It’s pure discrimination but the worst part is that it was brought on by our own activists!
