Yaacov that was probably an ad for leasing. Speaking about leasing deals I wonder if anyone actually paid the price from the ad.

In my experience it always comes out more but i never went to wheels2lease so im not bashing them.

How is this different than a birthday present? Whatever money you get you have to give maaser from. The only exception that i can think of is if the money was given for a specific purchase.

And in the case where the estate left 10% to a charity then you will have to pay 1% less maaser (think about it).

There is reason why we and yoshkites use the word G-d but muslims refuse to use it because they want to refer to their own entity.

Actually i have a reason why people should pick 13. Because as soon as they hear

2-digit number between 1 and 50 in which both digits are odd

They start thinking about 1x and 3x and then they hear about

    and different

So they should automatically decide to use both of those numbers and get 13.

But like we see here it didnt happen most of the time.

Also, google the pictures of how Maharal of Prague’s grave looks like because its very difficult to figure anything out once you are at the cemetery and have to keep walking constantly.

Do you plan to go on long walks that would make the 3 yr old tired?

What would your options be if 3 yr gets tired all of a sudden? Would you or your spouse be able to carry the child?

Each child is different and each family has to make this decision based on their set of circumstances. For example: where will you store the double stroller? will it be able to take it out every time without needing help?

Yes you are allowed to wear it and its not a problem. As a prove you can test it out during the week by leaving it laying around for 24 or 25 hours without winding it and see if it would still work. This would prove that they are capable of working through out the whole shabbos without you winding it and so you aren’t doing anything by wearing them.

I’m sure there are some poskim who will disagree so you have to ask your LOR.

If he would have offered me the empty tank or at least 2-3 gallons then i wouldn’t be complaining. But it was less than a gallon to begin with and he spilled most of it on the floor so i barely got half a gallon and wasn’t offered anything.

And this was a local call he walked over to me. I would have expected this type of service from AAA but i was hoping to get better service from my neighbors.

    Shmoel,

Its other way around since you aren’t obligated to teach girls their tuition can be considered maaser. But I was taking about something else… anything you pay over actual cost can be considered maaser.

If you find out the real cost of a yeshivah you can subtract the extra payments from your maaser fund.

    kfb,

You mean stealing halachicly? Because by US laws they aren’t doing anything wrong.

Also, even halachicly I don’t think its called stealing but…

Can’t rely in money of others.

If you put yourself into situation where you have to accept money from others then there will be a time when you will actually need it, meaning you’ll be poor.

If you learn and don’t work you’ll end up stealing (and I think forgetting your learning).

But if anyone has an opportunity to learn they for sure should take it or help someone else who is more capable.

    Far east,

Let me try to explain it to you… You see shadchanim like to set up girls from rich families because they are easier to sell and there is more certainty of getting paid. Sometimes I see an older girl who’s been working and saving but because her family is poor she still doesn’t get enough attention. But if she joins NASI then to shadchanim she looks just like a rich girl so they are willing to work with her. Even if the girl has to borrow or collect for it its worth it because this will make her seem rich and then she’ll get lots of offers.

By the way, if anyone is looking for a job… Great salesperson can make 10k in commissions per successful match.

in reply to: Thank you Project Nasi! #862703
    2qwerty
    Participant

    AZ,

I think the biggest problem with project NASI is that it puts a price tag on girls and some people feel uncomfortable with it. And even those who signup for it dont feel so comfortable with the amount but do it anyway because there are no good alternatives.

I think the payment amounts should have been determined by the girls. So if a girl A invests $500 and girl B invests $10,000 then shudchanim would obviously give more attention to girl B… BUT if they happen to hear of a perfect match for girl A they would obviously still redd it to her since it’s a higher probability for them to be paid.

This way ever girl would be make her own decision how much she is in need of NASI and maybe as she gets older and more desperate she would raise the shudchanus as she sees fit.

AZ, can you please explain why such an idea wouldnt be good? Or maybe its not so bad and you’ll try to include it into the program.

    Thanks

Hashem told us to erase the memory of Amalek but its up to us which method we use. We can let someone else do the dirty work, we can let him convert or intermarry. I didnt see anywhere that says that Hashem wants Amalek dead, gone doesnt mean dead.

Exactly where does it say that you are not allowed to cause yourself to bleed?

Breishis 9:5 – I will demand (an account) for your blood and for your souls.

Rashi- your blood – refers to one who sheds his own blood.

Rashi- your souls – refers to someone who strangles himself even though no blood was spilled.

(For Wolf – “sheds blood” is not the same as allowing blood to come out during brushing teeth and so on)

So this is one of the mitzvahs bnei noach and applies to goim and Jews alike. Practically this means goim cant get a bris milah. And thats why Avraham couldnt do it before he was specifically commanded to do it.

in reply to: Is An Amalekite Allowed to Commit Suicide? #941932

    Wolf,

Just like you are not allowed to make yourself bleed so are the goim. And any exception like going to a doctor also applies to both.

The fact that goim used to do blood letting doesn’t negate the fact that they are forbidden to do it according to our religion.

So, basically, he’s required to go around looking for a Jew to say “please kill me” to?

No, he doesn’t have any requirements, we do!

Since HKBH wants him dead anyway, is he allowed to fulfill God’s will by taking his own life?

No, he is still bound by 7 mitzvahs of bnei Noach. I think it’s wrong to say Hashem wants him dead because then Hashem would arrange for it right away. Rather, Hashem wants us to fulfill the mitzvah for whatever reason.

Does the sheva mitzvos against murder apply to suicide?

Yes, suicide and even making himself bleed is included in it.

was it a good thing that Haman was killed even though it was a non-Jew who did it?

Yes it was a good thing but no one got the mitzvah for it.

Amalek is engaged in a bloody war with Moab. Do we go to war with the Moabites to stop them from killing the Amalekites so we can do it ourselves, or do we let the Moabites try anyway and say that’s it’s not worth Jewish blood to save the Amalekites if others are willing to do the killing?

We should let them fight it out since we are commanded to get rid of them not necessary to kill them personally.

“Don’t deprive someone of opportunity to fulfill a Mitzwo Asseh deOrraisso.” A Jew may have that responsibility. I don’t believe a non-Jew has it.

Actually even a Jew doesnt have such a responsibility. If im buying the last esrog in front of you i will not be responsible to share it with you.

“If an Amaleki wants to fulfill Hashem’s will then he’s probably not an Amaleki.” That assumes that an Amaleki has no bechira, which, I believe, is false.

Obviously Amalek has a bechira. I think Sam wanted to say… if Amalek wants to do Hashems will and accepts 7 mitzvahs then we dont consider him as Amalek anymore and we dont have a mitzvah to kill him. I agree with Sam.

My favorite question is what do you do with a child whos mother is Jewish and father is an Amalek? (he is too young to accept the 7 mitzvahs)
