Sam: Please name any or all rabbis on the record as opposing the asifa or permitting unfiltered internet. I believe you will find NONE on the record as such.

Rav Shmuel and the Satmar Rebbe in KY both supported the asifa, despite not being there. And Yankie Mandelbaum is not a “Rav”.

The Ashkenazi pronunciation is more correct. Ben Yehuda simply hated anything to do with Torah Judaism.

I heard that the Gedolim are currently working on the wording of a kol koreh against unfiltered internet. It is modeled on the kol koreh signed in the 1980’s against television. It is going to be signed by leading gedolim, rabbonim and roshei yeshivas from the litvish, chasidish and sefardic world in the United States, Eretz Yisroel and countries around the world.

APY: Google Translate translated “Hello” as “Shalom Aleichem”, “Aunt” as “Tante” and “cousin” as “shvester kind”.

    All correctly.

I wonder if the naysayers of this kedushadik event are frum or, more likely, the spiritual heirs of the eruv rav and those who were happy to swim in the 49th sharei tumah and didn’t want to leave Mitzrayim.

Sam, popa is correct. But in any event, we all agree that a Jew is prohibited from watching a woman even in a short-sleeved shirt. Let alone the far far worse female attire that the Olympics is infamous for.

It’s sickening how someone who considers himself frum could defend attending or watching a sport where the females are under-dressed and pritzusdik. Even if it were just a short-sleeve short she were wearing it would be strictly assur. But it is much much worse.

I have no idea what they are going to say. I only reported what I know, as it seemed relevant to your point.

May I suggest that you attend and thus obtain firsthand knowledge of what is being said?

Apparently the threat from the internet is comparable to the threat from the six-day war. Perhaps it is even a greater threat, as this is a spiritual threat while ’67 was a physical threat.

I said in recent memory. It is an extremely extremely rare occasion. That says something about the Kinus/Asifa on the internet.

Since last week there is a prominent sign posted in Rav Lieff shlita’s shul (the Agudah where the Flatbush Asifa will take place) with the above Psak Halacha (with those two words in big bold letters) of, and signed by, Hagaon Haadir Posek Hador Ba’al Shevet Halevi HaRav Shmuel Wosner shlit”a.

The Roshei Yeshivos shlit”a’s, who are great gedolim, took the extremely rare occasion to empty their yeshivos (including the largest Yeshiva of the all – Lakewood) for the Kinus Klal Yisroel Asifa. They never in recent memory have done so (not for rallies, not for tehilim asifas, etc.), let alone the vast majority of Yeshivas in the metro area. So, surely, this issue is a mitzvah rabba and a worthwhile one.

All the Gedolim and Rabbonim shlit”a sitting on the dais were officially supporting the Kinus, its message and the psak halacha read out loud by Hagaon Haadir Posek Hador Ba’al Shevet Halevi HaRav Shmuel Wosner shlit”a. They were aware of the message and the psak halacha prior to the Asifa. These Gedolim and Rabbonim are from America, Canada, Europe, South America and of course Eretz Yisroel. And were of Litvish, Chasidish, Ashkenazish and Sefardic origin. They include, but is not limited to, Rav Dovid Feinstein, Rav Ahron Feldman, Rav Ahron Schechter, Rav Malkiel Kotler, Rav Matisyahu Solomon, Chacham Yosef Harari-Raful, Satmar Rebbe, Bobover Rebbe, Skvere Rebbe, Skulener Rebbe, Rav Don Segal, Rav Elya Ber Wachtfogel, Rav Noach Issac Oelbaum, Vishnitzer Rebbe, and the Viener Rov.

There were many more Rabbonim shlit”a sitting in the stands as well.

There is a Worms Machzor published in 1272, that still exists, that is in Yiddish. So the language is older than that.

“The manner of dress might be less than our concept of tznius”

Even if that would be the extent of the problem, that alone makes it strictly forbidden to attend or watch such events.

Chacham Yosef Harari-Raful shlita was sitting on the dais and can be seen in many video frames. Are you familiar with how he looks? All the Gedolim officially attending the asifa agreed that unfiltered internet is an issur gamur.

Rav Harari didn’t speak at the Kinus since he speaks in Ivrit, and they wanted all the speeches to be in only Yiddish and English. But he was there and agreed to the Psak Halacha with all the other Gedolei Yisroel in America, Eretz Yisroel and elsewhere.
