This is far too confusing for my already-overtaxed brain! (Is that why girls don’t learn gemara?!)

lol! yeah random! well whenever they pray in public (I prob wouldn’t use the word “daven” for muslims) they seem to be concentrating very hard….fortunately I don’t know any muslims personally so I can’t really ask…

The one thing no-one mentioned on this thread (sorry, ivory, to bump an old thread AGAIN….and Randomex….and anyone else who complained….I haven’t been here too long so I have so much to catch up on 😉 ) is that in the Torah’s times (meaning Yaakov and Leah etc.), they had a COMPLETELY different mindset!! I mean Avraham never even saw Sarah before they got married! These days, it’s a halacha! And someone said above that Yaakov and Leah’s marriage worked out fine….um, maybe I have the facts wrong, but I believe Yaakov wasn’t too thrilled with the initial arrangement, if I remember correctly….also, there are so many proofs in the Torah that marriage today just isn’t like it was then (Boaz and Rus)! You can’t just say, “Well, it’s what worked for Yidden in previous generations, so it’ll work for us.” But we aren’t on the same spiritual level as previous generations – I thought that would be obvious. Not that I am putting down the chassidish way – if that is your derech, then it’s great for you! But saying that it’s worked for Jews before doesn’t mean that it’s the best way for everyone these days.

ARFWS – i loooooooved car washes – they were like the treat of the century! Though I can see why you would be scared. I do other stuff during the day/night, and in between I post. Also, at like 3am, I think “What should I do now? I know. I’ll see if anyone replied on the CR.” If they did, then I post. Ditto for 4am. (I can survive on 4 hrs sleep a night)

Jewishfeminist – wow. Wow. Wow. You inspire me. I don’t understand how you could keep saying what an amazing person Menucha is, when you were so pressed for time. I would have been stressed out of my mind! (Not too mention, I probably wouldn’t have done all that chessed in the first place). You are an amazing person. I’m jealous of your share in Olam Haboh.

Mi Adir from Alumni, as I said above is really gorgeous. Eli Gerstner sings a stunning mi adir (album: yosis). Also Dovid Gabay (album: Legabay – I THINK)

Mi bon siach – there’s always the classic abie one (I THINK its on an album called Kol Zimra??? or something??), probably way over-used but stunning anyway. I think he has composed a few but the one I’m thinking of is his nicest one (in my humble opinion, anyway;) ) Shalsheles 2 sings a stunning one as well, but again probably done too many times.

I am positive that Avraham Fried, MBD and Yaakov Shwekey all sing nice ones, just can’t think of them off the top of my head. Shwekey – maybe on cry no more? But I don’t really remember…. Also I think you should really consider the simcha leiner song, even if it’s not the exact words you’re looking for. It’s a gorgeous song, like all his music.

Shopping – yes from your posts I get the feeling that you seem to really think about what you say. You try to “keep the peace” – make sure that people aren’t degraded, insulted etc. I don’t think I have ever seen you post something mean. And your Rosh Hashana poem was really enjoyed by CR members!! 🙂
