No need to send a picture. Just wear your Rebyidd costume.
March 7, 2018 10:29 pm at 10:29 pm in reply to: Did Your Children’s Yeshiva or School cancel school today? – It’s Ridiculous! #1484561☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDo you know of any yeshivos which cancelled yeshiva?
March 7, 2018 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm in reply to: How to Deal with a Request for a Shidduch Picture #1484558☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIMHO refusing to give a picture is perfectly reasonable (and that’s an understatement). As long as you give the source of the resume the opportunity to redt the shidduch according to your terms, if they refuse, you can try to find someone else to redt it who will do it in a way you are comfortable with.
March 7, 2018 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm in reply to: Adjoining property is doing extension- beam is on my property (residential) #1483496☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantFirst of all, your conclusion, that you would do it, is based a set of facts and halachic assumptions which are just as unsourced as Joseph’s.
Secondly, you’re not the only one to post that it’s muttar.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’ve heard Rav Malkiel Kotler deny that story.
March 7, 2018 1:08 pm at 1:08 pm in reply to: Adjoining property is doing extension- beam is on my property (residential) #1483483☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPhil, you might be 100% right, but I’m curious as to why you didn’t level similar criticism against the posters who paskened that it’s muttar from their boichs.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMidwest2:
1. See GAON’s post
2. ”
3. I’ll reiterate my question from above; how do you reconcile your position to only be positive with the gemara?☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think some of things he’s done, including the forgeries, disqualify him from being called a talmid chochom.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’m willing to discuss. Why do you think the gemara approves of mocking avodah zarah, and why do you think this is different?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe (‘ש”ך (יו”ד קע”ט ה says asking פסוק לי פסוקא is a קצת נבואה.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPutting that aside, just because the concept of getting an answer in a supernatural way indeed exists, that makes it less silly to randomly make up a method?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThose are all methods of consulting with Hashem, not a dead person.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHere is the original meshichist link:
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant…..אמר רב נחמן
To complete the quote:
אמר רב נחמן כל ליצנותא אסירא בר מליצנותא דעבודת כוכבים דשריא
Making derisive comments referring to Reb Moshe zatzal
I’m sorry that you can’t see the obvious, that this thread does not ch”v in any way say anything bad about R’ Moshe.
It mocks, rather, a practice which unfortunately doesn’t seem to be so uncommon, and seems to go together with other thoughts and practices which undermine some basic yesodos of Yiddishkeit.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantActually, the reason for the whole shailah on the eighth volume of Igros Moshe is because it’s known that Rabbi Tendler forged the teshuvah on brain death, which calls into question everything else.
Why would anyone want to actually consult someone who’s a known fraudster?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou probably didn’t look in ‘חלק ח as I did.
March 4, 2018 10:59 pm at 10:59 pm in reply to: What’s the strangest thing you got in your mishloach manos this year? #1480826☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt rhymes with custard.
C’mon, you can’t compare custard to piglets.
March 4, 2018 9:18 pm at 9:18 pm in reply to: What’s the strangest thing you got in your mishloach manos this year? #1480788☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAlso honey mustard.
Honey mustard isn’t so bad. It’s got some zing to it.
Also, it doesn’t rhyme with “piglets”
March 4, 2018 9:09 pm at 9:09 pm in reply to: What’s the strangest thing you got in your mishloach manos this year? #1480786☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy knock it?
Because real men don’t eat shtiglitz.
March 4, 2018 8:17 pm at 8:17 pm in reply to: What’s the strangest thing you got in your mishloach manos this year? #1480751☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf the guy’s half normal, it was shmaltz or matjes, not some sweet fake cream sauce herring like shtiglitz.

As implied by T2, before there’s a huge emotional investment.
I believe poskim don’t speak in terms of how long before the engagement, but rather how long after initially meeting. I believe the number generally given is three dates, but ask your posek for specific guidance.

that doesnt help if you have to move your car now
Neither does calling the police. It usually takes hours until they come to give a ticket, and then hours until the tow truck comes.
March 4, 2018 9:35 am at 9:35 am in reply to: Adjoining property is doing extension- beam is on my property (residential) #1480227☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNeither. I put a note on his windshield.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMentsch can you or one of your multiple screen names help me out with either of my 2 qyestions posed above?
Sure, just remind me what they were, and I’ll be glad to answer them.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLol Mammele.
I b”H have been helping prepare for Shabbos. My wife definitely got a big thank you for driving home last night in miserable weather.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt’s true that passing a law today which bans guns will not prevent any incident tomorrow, but common sense says that regulating guns and lowering the number of guns around, in the long run, will reduce crimes committed with guns.
Aside from common sense, just look at the level of gun violence in countries similar to ours, but with tighter regulations (and enforcement). It’s lower.
I really hope your grandmother doesn’t have a gun, because statistically, someone owning a gun is more likely to have some sort of incident useing that gun against themselves or a loved one than have an incident in which they’re protected by that gun.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf you’re trying to convince me that we should severely regulate all guns, not just the ones used in school shootings, you’ve succeeded.
If you’re trying to convince me that all guns should be easy to buy because there are other causes of death, or because it’s not easy to make an enforceable law, you’ll get all the pro-gun people to agree, but they’re actually very poor arguments.

Who cares who the one quoting him is, as long as the quote is accurate?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNot only that, there isn’t an actual legal definition of assault rifle, so banning them is kinda ineffective.
So make one. The government can ask Dick’s Sporting Goods for advice.
February 28, 2018 12:36 am at 12:36 am in reply to: Rav Miller Website Accuses ‘Joseph’ Of Stealing #1479165☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI thought it was a pretty good answer. Do you think Joseph needs to be more machmir than R’ Shmuel Miller?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe גמרא, מגילה יא עמוד ב
Three lines from the bottom
בא שטן וריקד ביניהן הורג את ושתי
Satan came and danced amongst (between) them and killed Vashti
Is that clear enough? What are you trying to clarify, that Vashti was killed? Midrashim were already quoted.
How Vashti was killed? The gemara doesn’t say that.
February 27, 2018 12:26 pm at 12:26 pm in reply to: Rav Miller Website Accuses ‘Joseph’ Of Stealing #1478081☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantZD, I think all of them were. These Q&A are available on the site, or as an email subscription.

The Briskers say it’s a p’tur.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantTLIK, you got your yearly rant in, but didn’t even come close to answering my question.
February 27, 2018 11:37 am at 11:37 am in reply to: Rav Miller Website Accuses ‘Joseph’ Of Stealing #1478043☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantwe are bothered by the fact that this allows people to comment on the words of Rav Miller Z”L.
Why is that a problem?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI don’t understand your shtickle Torah. You wouldn’t read the Megilah either if there was danger involved.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt’s not embarrassing for me. It’s embarrassing for my mother in law
So you’re asking how to make sure it happens more often?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhich is more dangerous?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOnce they passed the psak of meesa ,bais din is not allowed to recind even if edim come with proof.
Where do you get that from? If eidim later make the first eidim into zom’mim, we believe the second and punish the first, and if they simply contradict them, we still let the accused go.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf you don’t realize it, why is it embarrassing?
