PAA- I just read your story (without clicking on the links) and this thread. My mouth is hanging open. Like this: 0.

in reply to: Whats my problem I can't keep CR members straight? #1037226

??? ???? ?? ?????? ????! Thanks Randomex! I just checked out your profile- glad to see my name there twice:)You can add this there or to your report card comments-

“Despite Randomex’s super intelligence and awesome skills, like his ability to clarify complex stuffs so adroitly- he is still so admirably unassuming and humble and will treat everyone with respect and equality. He doesn’t put himself above responding to any poster, and will take each person seriously and respond with sincerity. Randomex, you’re a real inspiration!:)”

SayIDIdIt- how? I mean, how’d you do it? (The font)

in reply to: Do Sensitive Boys Exist? #1036760

Wow, thanks tziviki16. Good to know they’re out there somewhere! Or are you the only one? Do you have sensitive friends? And in what way are u sensitive?

in reply to: Mistaken Lyrics #1087808

Randomex is NOT a she. I’ll believe that as much as I’d believe that cozimjewish is a he! His brain is way too technical and he talks with male language. CIJ probably thought Randomex is a she cuz he said he emailed Dena Cohen (something to do with that).

in reply to: Can't escape who you are….:) #1036781

    Randomex: O. (as in Oh).

in reply to: Good usernames #1065378

Randomex, does your name mean you used to be random but aren’t anymore? And what’s pshat in ur subtitle? I googled it so I chap sort of, but what gave u the idea?

in reply to: Can't escape who you are….:) #1036777

Now now, my dear Froggie. I’m sure your brains are worth a lot more than the credit you give them, and I for one find randomness quite appealing.

in reply to: Can't escape who you are….:) #1036773

    Randomex. Tsk tsk. (wagging finger)

By sheigetz I mean whoever made up the law. Or the NYCDOE. Or Obama’s friends. Or enemies. Whatever.

in reply to: Whats my problem I can't keep CR members straight? #1037200

“It’s in your name!” Randomex, I KNOW that!!!! You’re really nice and we’re good ol buddies, but sometimes u overstate the obvious and make me out to be a dunce!

    LF- oh.

    ha.

    ha.

    haaaaa!!

Just gonna point out that harps are not really used in bands afaik.

in reply to: Whats my problem I can't keep CR members straight? #1037196

Sh0wj0e and Randomex- Not that long. Anyhow I don’t read everything here, only stuff that catches my interest. I never read those Joseph threads.

LF- lol. I like the banned wagon part. But sorry I don’t chap- shaychis kinor?

in reply to: Rebbes Affectionate with Children #1055907

LG- thanks:) You should! If you’d have a daughter she’d probably be the kinda kid I’d enjoy teaching (with a mother who’s a work in progress…)!

in reply to: Can't escape who you are….:) #1036767

“Actually, online, someone can choose to project a certain identity if they want to, just for fun, in a way which might not be quite as feasible in real life. Just saying. :)”

That’s what I’m talking about. Even with trying to project a certain image, inevitably something real about them gets out (if they’re here long enough). Not that I sit and analyze everyone, ahem, LF… 😉

LF: My little amphibian friend, your name is from the greek word “amphi-bios”, meaning “double life”. So if there’s any meaning to names…

in reply to: Old Time Fun… #1110572

    “Were you here back “then”?”

Nope. Well… not that far back. But I could imagine from reading the posts…

    Am I right?

in reply to: Rebbes Affectionate with Children #1055905

    I touch my students.

I love them dearly, and I hug them. I kiss them. I have them sit on my lap. With their consent. I pinch their cheeks. And I even massage their weary hands after a long test when they complain that their hands hurt.

The love is pretty mutual and I know I’ve built my students and they love school for it. They know that their teacher loves them and they want to impress her. Class is fun because of it. They all can’t wait for the last day of school when they’ll each have their private time with me and I’ll tell them how special they are and how much they mean to me and how to always believe that they can do it. I think that that’s more important than almost anything in the world. These are Yiddishe kids that we’re talking about, and I don’t care what this sick world has come to- what does a sheigetz’s ideas have to do with me??? I have one mission: to build my students. I won’t let the depravity of the outside world enter my pure, holy, homey classroom.

in reply to: Old Time Fun… #1110567

LF, I sympathize with you. It seems that there’s been yeridas hadoros, and the caliber and quality of the fun in the CR has lost some ta’am- it’s not as geshmak and juicy as it used to be.:(

in reply to: Can't escape who you are….:) #1036764

No. Sometimes it would be, but I’m sure there are people here who in real life wouldn’t dare speak up, but here their opinions are just as important as anyone else’s; or they could say something unconventional or that would look bad in their community/family-so they don’t have to be afraid.

in reply to: Can't escape who you are….:) #1036762

I was just thinking about how no matter what, we can’t drop our personalities just cuz we’re anonymous. Here in the CR, some people just assume the leader roles, some the follower; all insecurities peek through; the nurturers are here, those who are logical, those who wax lyrical, even the bullies (even after being moderated) and the bullied.

in reply to: Whats my problem I can't keep CR members straight? #1037192

Yeah- Randomex, my good old friend who always pulls through with clarification in the CR- since no one seems to be answering the “Who in Heaven’s name is Joseph” question- will u please tell us?? If you know, that is. In any case, what makes him any more discussion worthy than any of us, like Yummy Cupcake?

in reply to: shaving for a chol hamoed date #1035888

In a way it’s good if he has a little stubble. That way you could tell if he’ll look good in a beard, and see if u want him to grow one.

in reply to: Name That Tune! #1194313

Yup- I meant that. I couldn’t place the song but I could sing it. Guess I associated wrongly.

“hey eftach!!! My long-lost sis! Long time no see ;)!” Hi, hi- thanks, I was away and totally disconnected and I’m happy to say I had a nice time with no coffee room withdrawal symptoms! It’s gratifying to know that I’m free to unplug when I want to. BH!

in reply to: Mistaken Lyrics #1087802

:):):) I know! (both!)I meant to say when we were little… But it’s cute anyhow, no?

in reply to: Mistaken Lyrics #1087799

My friend always wondered why in “Someday” MBD says that “our stars and our moons will disappear.”

I always wondered about the song on Simchas Torah- “anu anu anu abergadikadishubirichi”.

in reply to: Name That Tune! #1194310

CIJ- “Birds sweet trills from Tzfat’s hills echo as they fly”

Is that from the Chevra- Jerusalem or something? It rings a faint bill.

in reply to: Do Sensitive Boys Exist? #1036729

Sensitive as in tender-hearted, possessing a finely-tuned ear for the subtle beauty in this world, with a sensitive soul, and made up of layers of depth. The type who get touched by real music.

Any of you out there? (No wannabees!)

BTW I find that in shidduchim, when I say “someone deep” they either stare blankly, or have no idea what I’m talking about but think they do.

in reply to: Think fast- What's the randomest think you're thunking? #1034788

I was wondering about something really random today. Do Muslims daven with kavanah, or sometimes mumble their prayers, like I and others sometimes do? Does it look the same as it does when we mumble our way out of the house in the morning?

in reply to: Suggest subtitles for others (okay, and yourself…) #1152516

o that’s so cute agent emes!

in reply to: Childhood Traumas #1035842

Popa, crack a smile at least :). And be nice. ARWSF- you too.

in reply to: Childhood Traumas #1035833

Popa, I said I wouldn’t feed you- but in the case that you’re saying the truth I’ll respond…

I probably wouldn’t have been in your class because in that case they wouldn’t have held their noses cuz it woud have been “the type” if you had it too to hold onto their noses, cuz you aren’t the type of guy people hold onto their noses for even if they wanted to, cuz it’s too scary to do that cuz you might just call them “Moron”.

    Anyhow, my school wasn’t co-ed.

in reply to: That moment when… #1034424

I’m not really sure what this thread is meant to be about, but I cracked a smile at that one:)

in reply to: Chesed on the CR #1067211

My brother once told me a nice vort (don’t know from whom). In ashrei we say “lhodia lbnei haodom gvurosov”. Pshat is that it’s referring to Hashem. But another way of translating gvurosov= HIS greatness, ie pointing out to a person his own greatness and making him feel good about himself. I liked that one!

in reply to: What makes you unique? #1034391

I have a pretty good ear for music, and harmony b”ah.

    in reply to: #1034870

Popa- I am officially withholding your supper tonight. Enjoy hunger in solitude (with the peace and quiet.)

in reply to: See you in… a while. #1085356

Thanks, LG. I enjoy expressing myself here, cuz I get to say what I really feel unabashedly. In a way, I’m happy to see that my essence is still pretty sincere. I always wondered what would come out of me if I got drunk, or sleep-talked and revealed my true thoughts. I even thought about taping myself overnight to see if I might! There’s some ugly stuff in my head and heart too, but at least I know that that’s not all there is….

“And i probably thought a bit too much into my screen name. It’s not every day that I get to choose my own name, so I care abt it.”

ICR (Randomex, I got that one without Googleing too!! ;)).

I also thought into my name…

in reply to: See you in… a while. #1085346

Randomex- I’m impressed. May Hashem give you the strength to continue to grow and use your (obvious) kochos to become your real, best self. May He grant you whatever you need in your life to bring you to that. Vhoser soton milfonecho umilacharecho, and may we all follow in your footsteps soon (I know you said you’ll be back… still.) Thanks for helping whoever you’ve helped here, and I’ll miss you too! (get the tissues…:()

    in reply to: #1034865

Squeak, I had to smile at that one!

    🙂

And now that u piped up, what on earth is that link by your username all about???

PBA- I’m shaking my head in disapproval. Why would u wanna fool anybody, kal vchomer a moron? That’s no kintz.

in reply to: self squashing and growth #1034809

    ?? ????? ????? ???? ???? ????

“Also, in your original post, did you mean that you feel you have talents but you don’t use them to their full potential or for the right things? ICR! :)”

    Yup

In which way do you relate?

    in reply to: #1034862

    And now in English? 😉

in reply to: self squashing and growth #1034805

Yes! I am. And I’ve been waiting for you all these years. I always knew we’d find each other one day. And now that day has finally come and….(sniffle, choked sob, tears streaming and heart overflowing…. Running with outstretched arms, and…..as the lights dim- huuuuugggggg.) Curtains close. Exit stage left.

Why- you also have a soul that longs to be close to its creator and to be good? 🙂

in reply to: How are you preparing for Yom Kippur? #1034172

You know, Popa, what is said about those who say echta vashuv…

Anyways, so how’s it with the new spiritual high?

    in reply to: #1034860

    Squeak- what does “ectoplasmic” mean?

in reply to: Suggest subtitles for others (okay, and yourself…) #1152510

“eb – again you shocked me! I really don’t mean this in an offensive way, but – I thought you were about my age (give or take two years)!!! I can’t believe you are so much older than me! lol next thing you know, you’re gonna be admitting that you’re a grandmother (please don’t do that to me!!)”

I’m not your age biologically, but in every other way I’m just about. 🙂

    in reply to: #1034856

    L.F.- I hear you, too.

I’d like to add dimples, twinkling eyes, and oozing with warmth. Also musically inclined people.

in reply to: Question of names #1036836

As I was saying Avinu Malkeinu, I couldn’t help but notice “bateil machshovos soneinu”, etc. Wondering why anyone would name a child that. 🙂 ps now I can’t daven without thinking of that!
