dovrosenbaum: Hacham Faur, z’l, also had some “interesting” things to say about Ramban and the Rosh. He also suggested that the spread of Kabbalah in Spain facilitated the conversions to Christianity. (I know his theories were put forward with greater precision and subtlety than I am saying it here).

Yeshivaguy: Where is your outrage for the blatant disrespect shown for a Talmid Chacham? You pull out the “Loshon Horo” card to use against me, but you appear to have no problem with outright lies and slander against somebody who isn’t even here to defend himself. (and YES, it has been verified that the author of the book did not contact the Rabbi’s family to hear their side of things).

    Yeshivaguy45:

As said already, the author did not do thorough research. The son of “Muad” was an eyewitness to one particular event depicted in the book. He was not contacted or interviewed so it’s hard to say that the author is a serious biographer. The hatchet job done on this Chacham is without excuse and hiding a Bizoiyon Ha Torah behind “Loshon Horo” is typical for those who don’t want to deal with the truth.

Lorenzo d’Medici already took that one; Lorenzo il Magnifico. Nice try; think of something else.

    Gadolhadorah:

Correct! The sheitels are a problem but the tight, form-fitting clothing is a bigger problem. So is the way women/girls act publicly (talking loudly on their phones and bringing attention to themselves). Tznius (it also applies to men) is not only about the length of a sleeve or skirt; it implies a way of conducting yourself.

Appears to have been a cover up by the Hanhalah of the Yeshiva at the time. They refused to cooperate with the investigation.

to somejewiknow: If I am not mistaken, Rav Rivlin is a 10th generation Yerushalmi who is descended from a long line of Talmeidei Chochomim. He is a Talmid Chochom and Yerei Shomayim. To call his Torah “am haratzus” and to refer to him as “rabbi” (with quote marks) is an indication of a lack of Yiras Shomayim on your part.

somejeweiknow: You are most correct (there are other positions taken by Gedolim). However, the Zionist machine has completely dominated the discussion for so long that Zionism has even influenced the Chareidi world. It has become assur to say anything against Israel/Zionism, et.c

You are not a hypocrite. It’s YOUR mitzvah and you have no obligation to expalin to anybody what you plan to do with it. Your friend should mind his own business.
