Shulamis bas Sora is doing very well, funny you bring this topic up now. just saw her the other day 🙂 And if I hadn’t known anything happened to her I would never have guessed B”H.

Still in intense therapy but she’s back in school (as far as I know at least).

This thread seems to be the place that PAA can say whatever he wants and no one responds…

PAA – You mind explaining what you’re saying the past few posts? I liked where this thread was heading till I got lost and didn’t understand what was flying…

Look your hair can’t be that bad,

Cuz mine is the absolute worst!!!

Oh so there’s a competition now… Well, I would win hands down, without a question. Shopping – ever tried thinnings? It will probably tame it down a lot because there would be a lot less hair contributing to the look, though if you love your “mane” like I love mine than you probably would find it a bit traumatic.

Little Froggie – I wasn’t talking about you there…though I can ask you the same question I asked her. Which is the person you really are? The one who you are here, or who you claim to be IRL? And don’t you find it confusing to live with so many sides to yourself? It gets a little complex, no?

Living with the truth, in my opinion, is more “blissful” (that’s not a word y’know…) because that’s just the way I am. I believe it’s just a matter of personality. Though after giving it some thought, the people who choose the easy way out are usually more bitter when it comes to many things because they don’t think too deeply about their existence and therefore they just don’t appreciate the simple joys in life that some other (thought out) people would.

Gamanit – streekgeek- you remove the skin from the chicken, put it in a baking tin. Peel and slice an onion and add that to the tin. Peel a potato, and cut into small pieces and throw it in too. Spice, cover with aluminum foil and bake on 350 until it smells and looks ready- usually an hour.

What spices? I seriously need help with this kind of stuff….

There was one specific poster here a few months ago who claimed she didn’t have effective communication skills IRL and here she was one of the most expressive people. She claimed that online there is less formality and unspoken rules so she is uninhibited in expressing herself.

Was at a wedding years ago where the musician played at the request of the Kallah (I kid you not) the Teshuva song from Middos Machine (a most beautiful melody, btw)

I always wanted to walk down to the “kipah kipah” song from R Kunda’s The Magic Yarmulka but it just wouldn’t happen… 😉 I still love that song though!

    Hi people!!

I’m still here (well, sort of that is…) If you would take a look at my threads from 3-4 months ago you’d see why I’m not here as much as I used to though I wish I was. I miss the fun around here. And I hope to get to know you guys better once things calm down here and there’s a routine going again…

TAOM hasn’t been here in ages. OURtorah has poked her head in once or twice. I really miss them both and the camaraderie we had going here.

How you doing Shopping? I think about you all the time btw…haven’t spoken to u in a while. Your serial is awesome! I have been lurking a whole lot more than I’ve been posting, so I have been following it and I’m loving it! Keep going strong!!

2)Do the reasons why in the past women were not supposed to learn still apply nowadays.

Which reasons are you referring to?

The reason why they should is to know the halachos.

The halachos are the same now as they were then, nothing changed there. We are learning the pertinent halachos the same way it was learnt back then, baal peh (or for some topics, using a kitzur). Why the need for change just because the times changed?

What exactly in today’s reality dictates that women should be learning? What has changed since the original BY that would obligate girls to learn?

There is no reason why they shouldn’t but on the other hand, there is no reason why they should.

Aha, thanks for taking the time to explain that (you know you’re good at explaining, right?). Could you imagine, I would’ve never thought so deeply about your existence if not for this thread.

On a side note, I see that some still haven’t gotten my name straight…I guess that’s a sign that I’m not an authentic old timer yet.

I’m talking about the break you took from the CR. Your first post in years was on the “Continuation of Discussion on R’ Slifkin and Weiss from Manchester Eiruv Thread”. That was 6 months ago. The last time you posted before then was roughly 3 years ago. So you haven’t been here for 21/2 years.

Oh please. That is not a comparison.

I don’t know if they taught history back in Sara Schenirer’s days, but if they did or didn’t doesn’t make a difference. It’s taught out of necessity, no other reason, so yes recent history is taught too.

If someone would prove it necessary to teach gemara in girls schools I don’t see why anyone would make a fuss.

I don’t think there is an objection in general, it depends which society you’re referring to. There are many schools where both the girls and boys learn gemara in depth, no objection there. As for the BY schools, I don’t think there is an objection per se, its just the way things have been done since the first BY school was formed.

DaMoshe – It’s a good thing you didn’t look at my profile cuz I’m definitely not an old timer either according to your definition. There are plenty of real old timers that I unfortunately never got the chance to know. I was just listing some posters that I know from my first months here that don’t post anymore.

On the same topic, its almost time for my birthday bash. Just put some champagne in the fridge… All is invited.

In my opinion, just like locks are there to keep honest people honest, same with a filter. If you want to get around it, you can. If there’s a will there’s a way, no matter how strong the filter

While having WebChaver does give you a reason to stop and think before clicking, if you choose someone you are not necessarily embarrassed of falling before, it won’t work. Just something to keep in mind.

You know me better than that Syag. I am in no way putting down the “here and now” posters.

If anything I think if I’d spend more time here like I did back then I would have plenty of new friends that I wouldn’t have time to miss the old timers 😉

To be or not to be, Rebyidd, PAA and plenty others that I don’t know by name yet are making this place wonderful!! I’m considering coming back full time as soon as things calm down in a few more weeks.

Come to think of it Syag, you’re rarely seen around these parts of town recently. What gives?

However, since there seems to be some sort of stigma (whether real or artificial) how can we protect or glamorize getting married younger in order to lessen the issue

Can someone explain this stigma to me? Don’t most boys want to get married? Is the stigma coming because of what their fellow yeshiva mates will think, or because barely anyone in our society would take a 20 yr old boy seriously?

To be or not to be – Do you really think that boys getting married younger is a better approach? Some, if not all, lack the human decency that is expected in dating etiquette, as well as lack of life experience that inevitably comes with age.

And if you don’t mind my asking, is your wife older than you or younger?
