Yeah thats the book and the direct quote, thanks

DY now we are talking about semantics, No he didnt use the word assur, but he did not to deviate from a minhag (and Minhag is more stringent than Halacha). so we interpreted the statement differently.

I do have a question for you, You said before why should I care when someone makes some chumra that I dont follow and disagree with. How come when someone uses a kula and those condemn these cula or being makil and Ive even seen people use “LIfnei Evir”. If I eat Hagan Daaze Ice cream, Why should it bother you.

However when one shows examples of chumras on the right not only do we disagree with , but think are downright wrong you answer. It doesnt affect you so why do you care.

I care because I truly believe that its damaging to Yiddishkeit to make such chumras as Hamaser or this no Pizza at Melava malka is as damaging or worse than YCT. There are many people who even follow these rebbes who really shouldnt be following these chumras and at some point reach the point of Dayenu and just leave (And I belvie its getting worse) One can bury themselves in the sand and think it isnt happening, but it is.

If you are an elected official you are sworn to uphold the US constitution and the State constitutione even if they are diametrically opposed to the torah failure to do so is grounds for removal.

While toievah marriage is not in the US or NY State constituion, Legalized Abortion IS in the NY state constituion and you are legally obligated to uphold that law not matter what any one else says (If you disagree, then dont run for office)

Ok Maybe it wasnt bounty (I dont remember exactly which brand it was, it hought it was bounty) , But it definatly was a cheaper brand than the Hemish Brand that did not have the corn starch (Or whatever the glue used to paste the Paper towel to the cardbord tube)

Just for the record, he was the one who gave misgivings about the Blumenkrantz book

He said he was once in the supermarket and saw some poor woman ahead of him . She had a bunch of Peasach stuff that included some food and Paper Towels. She had read the the Blumenkrantz books said not to certain paper towels because of possible kitniyot on the last towel. So she got rid of the bounty and got a more expensive brand of paper towel that did not have the corn starch (Or whatever it was) and also put aside some food because she did not have enough money for both the more expensive paper towels and the food

My Shul has a Pizza party for the Kids after Shabbos, so in this case its obvious what the Rav Holds (His kids even go sometimes) I dont have to ask.

I dont ask the Rav about Stuff I might see in a book.

He is also a teacher and has 7 kids. Those are important too. He has many resposibilities and I dont think its proper respect for him to be at my beck and call whenever I have a minor Shaaliah.

It definatly said it was assur to eat Pizza at Melava Malka and that one must eat Hemish Foods at Melava Malka

The book also spoke about the holiness or something like that of food like Gefilte Fish (Yuch) and Challah (Which I also cant stand) (I eat other kinds of bread when I have a choice like a Bagel or other breads with similar doughy insides).

I do know there have been “issuirim” about eating such things as sushi (because its not a “Jewish Food”) , I dont think this book mentioned eating sushi. I dont remember if he mentioned sushi at Melava Malka or not (He might have though and not in a positive light)

I found it like any other Halacha book , but written more in a spiritual way as opposed to straight halacha, I dont normally ask the rabbi what I see in a Halacha book , I dont ask a shaila on every single thing I see in a book. The rabbi is too busy for that

I dont remember the title of the book or the author, but it was an unusual book. I couldnt tell if it was a Halacha book or a Chassidus book. It was written in english for english speaking audiences with ideas from Chassidic rebbes not usually followed in the Anglo world like the Satmar Rebbe and the Belzer Rebbe.

When you publish in a Book , Its differnet.

Its one of the critisisms of the Blumenkrantz book, He published lots of chumras that people assumed was the Halacha and followed them even though they should not follow said chumra.

And the book that published this hemish food chumra was in english, not yiddish, It was not meant for a chassidic crowd

Seriosuly I saw some sefer that maintained that it was assur to eat Pizza for Melava Malka and one should eat “Hemish Food”

People have to stop making chumras and imposing them on others, If you dont want to eat Pizza on Motzei Shabbos and want to eat Kugel, fine . But dont tell others that

I think he meant on washing and cleaning the Sheitls not selling them. Cleaning Sheitels is not 100% profit center.

I dont meant to be a killjoy here, but I dont want people to be in some fantasy lala land that you will make a decent income , Its hard to make a decent income required for a frum lifestyle and while a degree is no gurantee for success, it will likley help. A person with an MD usually makes more money than a Morah at a gan

Nobody makes 100% profit. You need equipment to clean the Sheitels (Shamppos etc) and you need business insurance (What if you damage the sheitel, You have to pay) Electricity isnt free and there are other costs as well.

If you are an CPA Accountant you can make more, Quickbooks mastery is a dime a dozen

A Morah at a Gan doesnt make that much money and neither do any sort of child care workers. The only way to make money as a morah is either to own a fairly decent sized school or to be a public school teacher (and that needs a degree)

Everyone knows someone who was successful without a degree. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg never got a degree however if you get one the odds increase dramatically that you will make a decent living and no $10 an hour is not a decent living espicially if you want to live the frum lifestyle

How many $400 Sheitels do you think a Macher sells per week? Of course they dont make $20 per Sheitel, but they dont sell many of them either

You also dont compute the cost of customer acquisition, its costs money to acquire customers. Im sure someone like georgie makes good money, but she has the customer base to warrant it

If you are new to the business you need to acquire the customers and that takes time and money

How much do you think a quickbooks bookkeeper makes? $10 and Hour $12 an hour, thats what I see them advertised for. $10 an hour is $400 a week, $1600 a month before taxes. last I checked rents in Borough park were $2000 and up.

I actually have my own business and know the economomics and how difficult it is to make money. Between inventory advertising and competiton the margins just arent that great. There are lots of Sheitel machers in Brooklyn and lots of competition to drive the prices down

Lets get the actual economics of being a sheitel macher. Lets say you make $20 a Sheitel ($20 is actual profit, not what you charge customer) . Now lets say you want to make $52,000 income (not alot of money) which is $1000 a week. If you charge $20 a Sheitel, you need to get 50 Sheitels a week to make that $1000 and thats every week so you need hundreds of customers and you are competing against other Sheitel Machers for the same customers and some women do it themselves

Want to get into Real Estate and you dont have, you need rental properties which costs $1 Million and up, at 5% down (and thats a BIG if if the banks will let you) thats $50,000 and you need more than 1 property to make money

Want to get into retail, In Borough Park the rents of a small retail store are at least $10,000 a month plus you need about $50,000-$100,000 in inventory

Want to get into Diamonds, we all know what diamonds cost, they arent cheap

So if you family doesnt have any of these things , its really hard to break into them without any money and you need significant amounts of money to get in

And I don’t see why most people on this thread think that unless one has a degree, they can’t succeed in life. That’s awfully closed minded!

While its true one can succeed without a degree, having a degree increases the chances of success. If you come from money and get into family business you can succeed without a degree, but if you dont have a family business and need to get ahead on your own a degree to get a better job.

In general “Jewish Jobs (Rabbis, Chinuch, Shteitech, Masghichim etc) ” dont pay very well, you need to work with the greater society to make more money.

Of course you will find people with degrees who are failures and people without success. But take 100 of each and see where the majority of the people are

The backlash against Milah is not the same, its mostly a few crazies

One does need to seperate between constructive critism and spiteful critism out of hate. Not all critism aimed at charedi communities is spiteful and hateful. Some is constructive. Its not that hard to figure out which is which

I do not wish to debate Milah issue, but one needs to seperate the issue of Bris Milah from Meziah B’Peh.

Nobody says you cant avoid a Bris, there are many who say you dont need Metizah B’Peh and even the same Mohels will do the Bris either way depending on the parents wishes.

I didnt call it a Chilul Hashem because I didnt like it, I called it because I saw what other people thought of it.
