Petira Of HaRav Yitzchok Kleiman ZATZAL [UPDATED LEVAYA INFO]

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of HaRav Yitzchok Kleiman ZATZAL, the Rosh Kollel of Kollel Iyun Hatalmud of Lakewood, NJ.

Rav Kleiman underwent serious brain surgery two weeks ago at Hackensack University Medical Center, and had been in a medically-induced coma until his Petira just a few minutes ago.

Rav Kleiman was formerly the Rosh Yeshiva of the Yeshiva of St. Louis, and later opened Kollel Iyun Hatalmud in Lakewood. As a Bochur he studied in the Mirrer Yeshiva in Flatbush under Maran Hagon Rav Shmuel Berenbaum ZATZAL, and was considered one of his prized Talmidim. His friends from his youth always talk about his tremendous Hasmada, as he was seen in the Bais Medrash until well past midnight – every single night.

The Levaya will take place Thursday at 1:50PM in BMG, and will then proceed to Kollel Iyun Hatalmud at 124 11th Street. The kevura will be in the Lakewood Cemetery..

  1. There are no words to adequately express my Hakoras Hatov to Reb Yitzchok Z’TL for all that he has done not only for my husband, but I’m sure I speak for all of us wives who were Zoche to belong to the St.Louis Rabbinical college Kollel. There is much to say but to sum it up I will quote my husband who always says “If there would be more Yeshivos like St. Louis there would be WAY less teens at risk.” May Reb yitzchok be a Meilitz Yosher for Gantz Klall Yisroel and hasten the Geulah!

  2. I pen these words with great sorrow, after learning about the Petirah of Moiri, Rebbi, Reb Yitzchok Kleinman ZT”L The Rosh Yeshiva never had a large Yeshiva the most maybe 50-60 Bochrim. I’m not sure that there will ever be a book written or a dinner about him to commerate his accomplishments.
Reb Yeruchum says there is something the Bala Batim don’t understand the idea far reaching affects, something that will affect people later on.
The book of the Rosh Yeshiva while it might never be in print, it is still being written. It is being written by his Talmidim and his Talmidims Talmidim, by the Askanim and the Baale Tzadakah who came out of the yeshivah, a regular Bochur who married, raised children and lives a simple Ehrliche life, with a special kind of Simchas Hachaim that most people will never know.
St. Louis was a place where no matter what type of Bochur you were, and no matter what type of self esteem you had (or didn’t)have made all of us feel like we were someone special!
I can go on and on about the Yeshivah and the Rosh Yeshivah ZT”L. We were ridiculed and made fun of in the 70’s and the 80’s. But no matter what we stuck together, a Yeshivah producing Feineh Baale Baatim and Talmidim who till today continue to affect peoples lives around the globe, but most of all instilling in us a love of Torah and Tefilla, without getting caught up with lables and other Naarishkeit. May the Rosh Yeshiva be a Meilitz Yosher for his Mishpacha, his Talmidim and K’lall Yisroel,
    Benny Wielgus

  3. The l’vaya will take place on Thursday, in BMG Lakewood during Bain Ha’sdorim, which is around 130p EDT. (from SLRC alumni update)

  4. Yes, lbd”l, Rabbi Sid Klieman and ba”h was zocheh be mechubad with the first brachah under the chupah of his great granddaughter yesterday evening.

Hamakom yenachain oso (osom) b’soch sha’ar avaiilai tziyon veyerusholayim.

  5. May the Torah of Rav Barouch Ber zt’l, which found a home, hosted and honored in the Aron hakodesh of torah She Baal Peh – the mind of R’Yitzhok Klieman ztl, stand testimony for him before the Kisay Hakovod. Unparalleled mastery of these shiurim, their intricacies, resolutions and dissemination have benefited a world who otherwise would never have understood them,or been aware of the existence of their sheer depth of range and scope. To the Mishpahah; Hamakom Yenachem Etschem B’soh Shaar Avaylay Zion Ou’Yeroushalayim

  6. Yes he did until about 9 years ago. He has a child with severe disability who took a lot of strength on his family He had an yeshiva in London

May he be comferted from the loss of his fathers patira

  8. Of course I knew him and the family. I taught the son before he became ill. And worked with him after he became ill. Rabbi Yitzchock Kleinman was a very special idle man. Woul
dn’t hurt a fly. He was thoroughly missed by all when he left London. May he be a melitz kosher for all of klal yisroel and usher in the geula quickly.

  9. BDE

When he said a shiur He was a burning fire, it was so Geshmak. While sitting at his shiur you felt Mein Olam Habbah!
He used to print copies of the seforim he would talk about and give them out to the participants.
Kovod meant nothing, he would go around distributing the copies… He will surly be missed.
