New mothers at Good Samaritan Hospital are getting a gift most know they won’t get again once they return home: a little peace and quiet.
Under a new policy that just went into effect at the hospital, no one except their husband or significant other is allowed to visit them on the maternity ward between 1 and 3 p.m. every day.
The hospital instituted the policy after hearing many maternity patients tell them that that they were leaving the hospital exhausted after giving birth.

The mitzvah of Bikur Cholim is to be sensitive to the choleh/choloh’s needs, not the visitor’s.
I am confused. Who in the Yeshiva World community has a “significant other” that is not their husband?
#2 A significant other could be any other person the mother may want to let in besides her husband. The significant other may be a divorced or widowed new mother’s very own mother or friend. I, personally would consider every visitor a significant other and would be honored to see them any time of the day. And I would feel terrible if someone came to visit me right during those hours of 1:00 and 3:30 and not be let in.
#3, having had more than a few myself, and b”H all went well each time, I would NOT have welcomed anyone but immediate family and grandparents. And if things had not gone smoothly, I would also have welcomed someone who could give me chizuk and guidance. For many mothers, that time in the hospital is the only quiet time they may have.
P.S. to earlier post: and this was with having a private room. Were I to be rooming in with someone there could realistically be NO downtime at all.
