HUGE! R’ Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz Raises Mir Yungerleit Checks by TWENTY PERCENT

In a historic announcement Sunday evening at the Mir dinner in Bell Works, renowned philanthropist R’ Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz announced that final touches are being put on a plan to raise the checks of Mir yungerleit by a whopping 20%.

Raising the incomes of yungerleit has been a long-sought yet elusive objective, with the stunning and forbidding costs associated with it making it appear an impossibility. Yet, with the philanthropy of R’ Shlomo Yehuda and others, including R’ Ralph Herzka, this objective is now nearly reached.

As part of its thanks and recognition to R’ Shlomo Yehuda and R’ Ralph, the Mir gifted the great baalei tzedaka with sifrei Torah, a testament to the incredible philanthropic efforts they have invested into the yeshiva.

Since the petirah of HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel zt”l, R’ Shlomo Yehuda alone has donated at least $40 million to the Mir.

  1. I’m not sure what happened to Hatznea Leches?
Does this Mir have anything to do with the Bais Hatalmud Mir (on thhe derech of the mashgiach Rav Yeruchem Z that I grew up with?
Seems as far apart as possible.

  2. How is this 20% increase going to help these Yungerleit when they have to start marrying off children.
All we’re doing is discouraging these bright young men from starting a normal Parnasah.
Do you think it’s funny when hundreds of bright minds keep on coming to America crying that they can’t survive?
Would this philanthropist ever get excited when someone would give Him a $165.00 monthly increase?

  3. Ader- I promise the 20% increase won’t make them decide to stay in kollel longer. If they are seriously learning and shteiging in kollel they really want to be there despite the small checks. What’s sad is that kollelim pay so little. My grandfather used to get a $200 kollel check when his rent was $60. But in those days- who was in kollel? Only the real deal. The problem is that everyone wants to be in kollel for the name so it’s impossible to pay normal amounts to even a serious T”CH.
