Sam Hirsch To Be Interviewed On Zev Brenner Radio Show

hirsch.jpgYeshivaworld has learned that Mr. Samuel Hirsch, the former NYS Assemblyman who was recently arrested in Flatbush as reported HERE on YW, will be appearing on Talkline with Zev Brenner talk show this Motzei Shabbos on WMCA 570 AM at 12 AM. The show will also be available through the Internet at www.talklinecommunications.com and will be re-broadcasted Sunday night in the Catskills on WVOS 1240 AM; from 5 – 7PM. Mr. Hirsch will be discussing the incident, and if time permits, will discuss the Bar Kochba rebellion against the Romans as it appears in the Gemara Gittin and Sanhedrin and the Rambam, which is relevant for the upcoming fast of Tisha B’Av.

Yeshivaworld has been informed that Mr. Hirsch will describe the incident “blow by blow”, and should be quite interesting. He will also describe in detail what action he has – and will be – taken

  1. I know Sam Hirsch for many years and he is a man of integrity. Sam Hirsch is the only attorney who has the guts to stand up for a fellow citizen and for theright thing without first thinking about what is good for him. We should stand 100% behind people like Mr. Hirsch because they are few and far apart.

    By an old friend

  2. Why are we not hearing from Shomrim and other police defenders on this apparent overreaction by the police? Why not have Shomrim and other community activists tell the police that they will no longer work on behalf of the precint until a earnest investigation is undertaken?

  3. The last time I checked- while Mr. Hirsch may be a fine attorney and politician, he is not a well-known Talmid Chochom – why is it necessary to broadcast his take on inyonim that are best left to our Rabbonim ?

  4. Joseph — Not as long as it took the self-hating-Jew-haters to preemptively attack the “self-hating-Jews.” You beat them (no pun) to the punch.

FYI, I have no knowledge of the incident in question other than YW, and look forward to a recap of the radio show. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with keeping an open mind generally and I find that the criticism of the “self-hating-Jews” is often even more knee-jerk than the “self-hating-Jews” are made out to be.

  5. Hi avibigcat,

I don’t think you know him at all. Mr. Hirsch happens to know his stuff both on a Talmudic and on an historic level. But don’t take my word for it. Listen for yourself and you’ll be surprized. Hey, you may even learn something.

  6. CKY – Just take a look at the original post on YW covering this incident. It didn’t take long for a few hothead self-blaming Jews to blame Mr. Hirsch.

  7. To Avibigcat: Mr. Hirsch happens to not be “a well-known Talmid Chochom”, but he is very learned in the topics that is applicable to Tisha B’Av. He isn’t bringing down his own p’shat, but rather what other “well-known Talmid Chochomim” say.
You never know, you may actually learn something!

  8. Illini07,
The very fact that you cannot find it in your hard heart to judge a fellow Jew favorably, proves Joseph’s point. Joseph was right on, in predicting your quick appearance here, and you were also right on, realizing that he was speaking about you. Do not apologize, you were not mistaken.

  9. I don’t think that ILLINI07 has any problem judging a fellow Jew favourably, nor do I think he has a “hard heart” (new screen name = PHAROAH99). However, there is a distinction between judging someone favourably and refusing to objectively consider a situation based on the facts, or lack thereof.

If you think of these discussions as Gemara, it seems like many posters start with the conclusion and then work their way backwards. I find it works better to read my Gemara right to left.

  10. i find it completely amazing reading all the posts on mr. hirsch. i was there when it happened and there werent too many people there till the middle of the saga. and just like i posted on the original post: HE WAS RESISTING ARREST. and maybe u guys should find out the real facts from the 5 – 10 people who were there(when it started) before u automatically assume he was right. of course he got hurt. the cops arent waiting 4 him to say “ok guys, i’ll get in the car now”. when someones hands r pinned behind their back like that and theyre jumping around like he was, things happened!!!!

  11. Joseph says;

illini, Obviously YW Editor had good reason to reject your diatribe.’

Sure they did, you probably threatened to quit your job with them if they accepted it!
What better reason could thay have had?;)))))
