PM Netanyahu to Obama: Terrorist Release in Exchange for Pollard

pollardn1-300x181Once again Israel remains unwilling to incur the wrath of the White House, permitting its citizen Jonathan Pollard to linger in prison. According to a Channel 2 News report, in talks leading to the announcement that diplomatic negotiations between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority) would resume, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu asked for the release of Pollard as Israel stands ready to release over 80 terrorists.

This Israeli prisoner release is yet another good-will gesture by Israel to appease the PA, which to date has done nothing to show any good-will, not to mention it fails to adhere to signed agreements.

Once again the Americans said no and once again, the Israelis capitulated. Seeking to save face, a statement was released by the Prime Minister’s Office that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu raises the Pollard matter in all meetings with the US.

The Committee to Free Pollard points out that Mr. Pollard did not murder anyone yet has been imprisoned for 28 years, seven of which were in solitary confinement in a punishment that is unprecedented in its harshness, calling for his immediate release once again.

  1. It’s time Netanyahu simply responded with a loud NO! I think Osama will do anything to get a “peace agreement” under his belt so Israel has leverage. However, as #1 comments, I too think there are people in Israel (Pollard’s ex-superiors)still alive who will not allow him to be released.

  2. I think it’s sad that so few people cared enough about Pollard to comment. He was given a sentence far beyond that given to people who spied for enemy countries. He is a Jew, he is our Brother and we should Daven for him and CARE.
