Lhota Rips DeBlasio Over NY Atlantic Yards

LHOTA CHANGENew York City mayoral hopeful Joe Lhota is attacking Bill de Blasio for his role in Brooklyn’s sprawling Atlantic Yards development.

The project received taxpayer subsidies and includes the Barclays Center, the home of the Brooklyn Nets.

It is also supposed to create affordable housing, which has fallen behind schedule.

Lhota is a Republican and one-time deputy mayor to Rudy Giuliani. He claims that de Blasio has been “absolutely silent” on the lack of affordable housing.

Lhota suggests de Blasio was “bought” by the project’s developers. One co-chaired a birthday party for the Democrat.

De Blasio defends his position and says he’ll pressure developers to create the housing.

De Blasio, the public advocate, has a commanding lead in the polls. The general election is Nov. 5.
