UPDATE: Remorse & Commitment Demanded From The Rebellious Ones

kanAfter days of discussion involving HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, meetings with the Rosh Yeshiva in which prominent roshei yeshiva took part, the decision has been made that avreichim who aligned themselves with the break-away faction of Degel, the Bnei Torah party, will have to express remorse for not adhering to the word of gedolei yisrael shlita as well as pledging future allegiance.

The document mentions both Rav Sheinman and HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, quoting a majority ruling of the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael. Those who turned their backs on Degel Hatorah in the election will have an opportunity to admit the error of their ways and pledge future allegiance, to distance from the break-away faction and come back home.

The document is written to address both avreichim and their rabbonim, vowing to refrain from straying at anytime in the future and failure to adhere to this commitment will be tantamount to gezel of yeshiva funds for their continued presence.

It is expected that those avreichim and rabbonim who are expected to sign and do not in the coming days may find themselves in a new reality, outside the beis medrash.

It is added that while this document is being publicized, it awaits final approval of the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita.

  1. The problem they have is that they have no idea who voted for the Bnei Torah party instead of Degel, since the vote is a secret ballot. So they won’t be able to get anyone to admit and sign, unless it was one of the few that took a public stance.

  2. Lets just remember that Harav Shmuel Aurbach is also a member of the Motzeas Gedolai Yisroel.
Is anyone demanding that the Rav express public remorse?
Is anyone threatening the Rav with exclusion from the council?

Do Rav Shtienman and Rav Kanievsky honestly not believe that Rav Aurbach is acting leshem shamayim? ( I doubt it)

I am choosing not to believe this ridiculous story, because if there is even a shred of truth to this.?
    Our Gedolim are not Gedolim!
They are no different then the average politician, who will step on their dead mother for a dollar!

This is truly a sad state of affairs!

  3. I don’t think that this is within the scope of Halacha to tell someone to vote for a party or else they aren’t allowed to learn in a Yeshiva, let alone the fact that it is very un-Jewish

  4. All of us need to be loyal to the Gedolei haDor.

Perhaps we should start a drive that the members of every yeshivishe minyan anywhere in the world must either sign or be asked to leave their shul.

  5. “opportunity to admit the error of their ways and pledge future allegiance”

This is like something out of the former Soviet Union!

  6. 2 Questions:-

    1) Is this similar to Austritt which RSRH instituted?
    2) Can the Rabbi who wanted this Degel haToroh party, also sign this release and thereby obtain Mechilo?
