Gedoleim of America to Address English Speaking Community of RBS Regarding Upcoming Election

afeThis Motzei Shabbos, the English Speaking community of Ramat Beit Shemesh will have the rare honor of being addressed by the Gedolei Torah of America, who because of the non-stop incitement against the chareidi tzibur in Eretz Yisrael have decided that they must do whatever they can to arouse the hearts of the community to unite in bringing about a tremendous Kiddush Hashem.

HaGaon HaRav Aharon Feldman shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Ner Israel Baltimore, is flying in to Eretz Yisrael in order to personally deliver the message of the American Gedolei Yisrael to the people of Ramat Beit Shemesh.

The Kenos will also include a video presentation of a recorded message from HaGaon HaRav Yaakov Perlow Shlita, the Novominsker Rebbe and chairman of the Moetzas Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Israel of America, and of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Kaminetzsky shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of the Talmudic Yeshiva of Philadelphia.

Just as the grave situation of the Chareidi tzibur in Eretz Yisrael has driven the Gedolim of America to call for the massive Atzeres Tefilla this Sunday, so too do the Beit Shemesh elections – which are viewed by all factions of Israeli society as being at the forefront of the current struggle – occupy a place of utmost concern in the hearts of the Gedolei Torah in America. That is why they have decided to be “yotzei chutz l’gidram” in order to urge the English speaking community of Ramat Beit Shemesh to rally around the chareidi candidate, Moshe Abutbul; and put forth all their energies to ensure his solid re-election.

This singularly unique Kenos will take place this Motzei Shabbos in the Beis Tefillah Yonah Avraham Shul (corner of Refaim and Luz Streets).

  1. Rav Feldman can place his Yeshiva’a otd ex-student Mr. Lipman of Beit Shemesh in his place while he is there.

  2. The vote of Bet Shemesh is the struggle to have a city be governed by a professional who is tuned in to infrastructure, water needs, maintenance, medical clinics and open space for recreation.

Why this has become a RELIGIOUS STRUGGLE is beyond the understanding of frum Jews who vote yearly in the tri-state area? If this is about politics and $$$$$$, then say it. I would rather live in Rechovot or Rananna that has clean streets, excellent medical and emergency services, parks for children, non crowded Yeshivas and shul and NO bus or stores open on shabbos. These cities are run by professionals who serve all residents equally. BTW they are cities without machlokes, that is building kollelim, kiruv centers and learning between secular and religious.

  3. It is a VERY bad precedent for Americans to intervene in Israeli elections.

Look forward to the Reform and Conservative movements, along with left wing lobbies like J Street and Americans for Peace Now, to take an active part in Israel’s next general election.

  4. actually unless you live here please don’t judge based on hearsay – even as far as infrastructure etc, Abutbul has done an amazing job at changing over the face of RBS and even Beit Shemesh (ie NOT just for Charedim)…in just the past few years he revamped all the RBS parks to really fun higher level equipment for the growing child population; he built up the Naimi Mall complex which was the first more modern addition to Beit Shemesh proper, the new BIG Fashion mall is a modern American style mall (also in Beit Shemesh) that has made the quality of life for ALL residents so much higher; he’s passed tenders and gotten projects to start being built all over BS and RBS, including the project across from BIG which is not for charedim, among others; he has worked night and day first to get expansion of the back road (Route 10) which had way too many accidents, expanded into a 2-lane highway in each direction (4-lanes altogether) and to meet up with the 38 to ease the traffic situation; he worked TWICE to get the 38 (the main Beit Shemesh highway, which has way too many accidents as well as congestion) approved for expansion as well, which they approved, then the new government while cutting back on finances tried to cancel, and Abutbul worked really hard for all the residents to get it re-approved for expansion and they have begun working on it!

I am not on his political team or anything of the sort, but rather a resident who has seen all these tremendous changes and am very happy with how he’s changed everything, and I am sure what I see is only a portion of what he has accomplished in this past term. I obviously have to listen to gedolei yisroel but even if they didn’t I would definitely re-elect him!
