New York Senate Republicans To Talk Priorities

albanyRepublican members of the New York state Senate are set to gather and discuss their next steps following pivotal gains in this month’s election.

The group will meet Monday afternoon at the state Capitol to confer on their agenda for the coming year and their relationship with Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Democrats who control the Assembly.

The Senate had been led by an unusual coalition of Republicans and a breakaway faction of Democrats. But Republicans won the majority outright in the Nov. 4 elections and will hold 32 seats in the 63-member chamber come January.

GOP Senators say their priorities for 2105 include cutting taxes and regulations to spur the New York state economy and create jobs.
