With the polls showing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is likely to reelected for a fourth time, MK (Labor) Merav Michaeli has submitted a bill that would limit a prime minister to two terms in office.
Michaeli explains that she feels democratic values are paramount but there must be a differentiation between democracy and a monarchy and laws must be set into place to protect Israel from one person taking control of the country.
Michaeli explains the bill does not seek the limit the ruling party for doing so would be contrary to the will of the voters. However, if the same party remains in power it will have to select a different leader following two terms in office. She explains that she has based her bill on the US model which limits a president from serving more than two terms.
Michaeli suggest beginning the new arrangement if passed into law from the 21st Knesset. If there are new elections in the coming months they will be for the 20th Knesset so the bill would not impact the outcome.

the downside to that is if there is no one else suitable it would kill the economy
country
With all his shortcomings, can anyone of you readers think of someone more suited for the job?
Would you have more trust in Deri, Lapid, Herzog, Bennet, or Livni to this difficult job dealing with Iran, Hamas, Europe and Obama while being attacked by a hostile leftist media.
Better yet, could anyone of you do a better job?
Think about it.
Bad idea-Bibi is the most suitable PM
Uh ..Ms.MK
The US had a precedent which lasted for 150 years prior to FDR ,which stirred the Republican sponsored ammendment
(which ironically Eisenhower and Reagan regretted)
In Israel,The very first PM served 4 terms
Even though I don’t like Bibi, in the long run this would be a terrible idea.
Greatest idea ever
