Knesset Channel Poll: Labor/The Movement Still in the Lead


votThe latest Knesset Channel poll released on Tuesday, 12 Adar, shows that Labor/ The Movement list remains in the lead with 24 seats. The poll was carried out by Panels Politics involving 800 respondents. The margin of error is +/- 3.1%.

Labor/The Movement: 24

Likud: 21

Yesh Atid: 13

Arab bloc: 13

Bayit Yehudi: 12

Kulanu: 8

Shas: 7

Yahadut Hatorah: 7

Meretz: 6

Yisrael Beitenu: 5

Yachad: 4

  1. Ignoring the poll’s left wing bias, what it shows is that the Left (Labor + Meretz) have only 30. Add to that the two centrist parts (yesh Atid and Kulanu) and that’s 21. They can add the Arabs (13) and/or the Hareidim (14), but adding the Hareidim requires exemptions from conscription and in any event it will be hard to exempt the Arabs and not the Hareidim, and the Arabs also want to be exempt from conscription. And, exempting the Hareidim costs them Yesh Atid.

    The Right (Likud/Bayit Yehudi/Yachad/Yisrael Beiteinu) have 42, to which can be added Kulanu (recent Likud dropouts with no ideological disagreements with Likud, only emphasis) and the Hareidim, and the Likud led coalition is well over 61. The only question is whether the Right will agree to cancel conscription of hareidim.
