Elbit had developed a new system of sensors capable of detecting Hamas terror tunnels in Gaza that lead to southern Israel. The information is fed to a central control center that deciphers the information using complex algorithms. The system will detect an exact location and reportedly, there are no false positives.

The Israel Defense Industries project in conjunction with Elbit has been operational for a number of months. According to a Yediot Achronot report on Thursday 27 Nissan, the IDF plans to deploy the new system along the southern border to Gaza as a primary defense system to prevent terrorist infiltrations via tunnel.

While the system is operational in some areas, to actually deploy it along the entire border requires government approval and of course, the appropriate budgetary allocation.
