White House Cites ‘Buffet of Options’ on Paying for Wall

wallThe White House says it has yet to determine how Mexico will pay for a massive wall at the Mexican border that President Donald Trump has promised to build.

Chief of staff Reince Priebus tells CBS’ “Face the Nation” that a “buffet of options” remains. He says that could include a tax on goods coming across the border, import and export taxes — even a tax on drug cartels or fines to people who come to the U.S. illegally.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto last week canceled a meeting with Trump amid tensions over Trump’s plan to build a wall at Mexico’s expense.

Priebus says it’s early in the planning process. He says the broader point is that Trump is fulfilling a campaign promise to build the wall.

  1. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid….even the most loyal Trumpkopfs in Congress are openly admitting that the U.S. taxpayers will get stuck with paying for this political albatross that may have some modest benefits on reducing illegal border crossings. However, they recognize the political reality that Trump was elected on a “Build the Wall/Mexico Pays…” mantra which was as well thought out as the this weekend’s immigration ban rollout. It they have to appropriate $15 billion in tax funds to pay for this boondoggle, they will, simply because they fear being targeted by some Tweet.

  2. Mr Priebus’ use of “buffet” is unfortunate. We don’t eat food unless we know it’s kosher and fresh. Are any of his tasty morsels both kosher and fit for consumption?
