Too Many Near Misses in Israeli Skies

ben g ap.jpgCivil Air Administration officials continue to warn that at some point, our luck will run out and a disaster will occur.

Officials warn that in the past 24 months, there were seven near-miss incidents, including one involving a helicopter and a Turkish Airlines flight. The helicopter did not have a connection with the control tower and a disaster was averted at the last moment when traffic controllers managed to prevent the chopper from taking off and colliding with the Turkish flight.

In another situation in the south, a plane almost collided with an Arkia flight, also a too-close-for-comfort situation CAA officials’ explained.

In a related matter, six traffic controllers on Wednesday were acknowledged for their excellence on the job, receiving citations for maintaining a high level of performance.
