Chareidi Man Seeks to Test the Legitimacy of Chametz Law Ruling

According to a Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) report, a 27-year-old chareidi man began to disrobe in a ‘Tiv Tam’ store in Bat Yam, a store that sells chametz on Pesach.

During questioning following his arrest, the man stated his actions were a protest to the Jerusalem court ruling permitting the sale of chametz on Pesach, explaining the court stated inside a restaurant or a store is not a public place in the eyes of the law, thereby permitting the bread on Pesach.

Therefore the suspect told police, he cannot be charged with disrobing in a public place since the court ruled a supermarket is not a public place.

  1. although the suspect is correct according to state law, that since it’s a private place it might be tolerated to disrobe there. however,it is transgressing the law of tzniyus according to the torah law. therefor,he made his point in a distastefull manner.ironically,it was the police enforcing the tznius law and hopefully will also enforce the chometz laws which are fundamental to torah judaism.
