According to a report appearing in the London-based Arabic language Al-Shark Al-Awsat newspaper, quoting aides to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, a well-known Likud Party activist is responsible for police launching the ongoing investigation against Prime Minister Olmert.

The prime minister�s aides allege the woman released the information to sabotage the growing political gains achieved by the prime minister, pointing to significant progress in negotiations with Israel�s neighbors towards achieving comprehensive regional peace.

In the meantime, while the New York Post and other newspapers have released details pertaining to the case, here in Israel a gag order remains and the media is prohibited from releasing details at this time.
