Landau: What Does Likud Stand For?

Former Likud MK and cabinet minister Dr. Uzi Landau on Monday announced he is moving to Yisrael Beitenu ahead of the general election.

Landau, a former public security minister and a political hawk, told Radio Kol Chai that he is still in good standing with Likud members and the party’s leadership, but he questions the policies of the party, which he maintains today, are a mystery to all.

Landau asked what the Likud’s position is vis-à-vis the future of the Golan Heights. He wants to hear from party leaders how they plan to tackle the unacceptable reality of the rocket attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza, as well as the future of yishuvim in Yehuda and Shomron.

“I do not know where the elections are heading but between Likud and Yisrael Beitenu we need a wall to protect the right-wing values.” Landau explained at present, he feels accomplishing this will be easier from his new political home, not from Likud.

Landau hopes his shift right to Yisrael Beitenu will help the momentum of the influx of personalities back to the right-wing, and “those who cannot find their answers in Likud, can now come to Yisrael Beitenu”.
