Police are investigating the possibility that a forklift operator in Alta Systems in Ashdod, working on classified projects, may have stolen computers containing classified security data.

The 40-year-old Ashdod resident was hired as a storeroom employee about a year ago, and he now stands accused of stealing no less than 50 computers.

Police arrested the suspect on Wednesday, based on the statements of some employees as well as surveillance cameras which police indicate captured the suspect red-handed.

Investigators report that following his arrest, the suspect returned an unspecified number of computers and they are now seeking to learn who he sold the others to and what happened to the electronic components that he stole. Police are indicating the employee was not aware of the security aspect of the thefts, since the company is contracted to furnish electronic systems dealing with Israel Aircraft Industries. The suspect is being remanded on Thursday,
