Shots were fired in the Egyptian border area on Monday morning at about 8:00am. IDF soldiers returned fire, injuring an Egyptian officer, Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported.

It appears soldiers operating north of Eilat spotted a suspicious person near the border, firing a warning shot in the air in accordance to procedural protocol. An Egyptian policeman fired at them, compelling soldiers to return fire, moderately wounding the officer.
