Report: Barghouti’s Release Contingent on Deportation

barg.jpgAccording to an al-Hayat report, Israel is willing to include Fatah Tanzim leader on the list of terrorists to be released in exchange for Gilad Shalit, but on the condition that he is exiled, and not permitted to remain in a PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous area, where he stands a good chance of replacing Abu Mazen.

The London-based Arabic newspaper quotes sources involved in the ongoing negotiations, people in the know, stating Israel is indeed willing to release Barghouti but he will have the make the decision since his release will include deportation. The location is not mentioned in the report.

Various Arab media reports continue to point to ongoing efforts involving Germany, Hamas, Egypt and Israel towards the release of hundreds of terrorists for Gilad Shalit’s release.
