☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
Apparently the only time cream cheese is on sale is around shvous time.givat brand, which is the cheapest brand is westgate is 4
. Jj is 5.They must be rich if they only buy in the most expensive store, and only buy the most expensive brand.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantEhats the excuse for over charging on these things?
Who’s overcharging? And why are you buying there?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMy kids in lakewood pay almost 5 dollars for cream cheese not on sale.
Your kids must be rich. It’s easy enough to get a less expensive brand for $3 or even $2.
Where in ny is flankin with a bone 8.99?
I haven’t seen $8.99 in years, but I have seen $10.99 frequently.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI have no idea about how women in Morocco feel about it so have no opinion.
Totally irrelevant to your comments.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWho still marries two wives?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGenuine Jewish thought cares about all people, including women.
I think you have imbibed non Jewish Middle Eastern values.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI have a hard time reading TLIK’s posts. They’re Too Long I Kan’t.
I think it’s a bad idea for someone of Teimani ancestry to marry two wives.
It’s not a matter of Western thought “artificially intersecting” with Jewish thought. It’s a matter of not wanting women to suffer, which would be the result.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPerhaps I misapplied the terminology.
Perhaps?
Anyhow, glad you backtracked. I guess OO is a worse label for you than non-misogynist.
Good job, Avram.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDo you see that if they did so that would constitute a contemporary “change of Halacha”?
If you had two left feet, would shoes cost you twice as much?
Nobody sane contemplates that rescinding the takana is anything but a disaster of an idea. It’s really disturbing and creepy that you keep fantasizing about it.
Yes, it would be a change in halacha, the same way the original takana was.

Wow. Your obsession is so great that you post utter nonsense.

Not as many

☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYrechnitz: Please don’t take me too literally.
As to the difference between smartphones and other internet connections, there are some differences.
Without taking sides, perhaps I can shed light on why some want to ban them almost entirely.
Putting aside the things that need to be filtered out, smartphone use tends to be somewhat “addictive” and the social implications are tremendous. I can elaborate if you wish, but there’s even a word describing one negative aspect. Phub.
Being carried around all the time does create more of an issue with material which needs to be filtered out.
There are arguments to be made to defend filtered use, but I just wanted to explain to you why some feel smartphones are worse.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo, it is not an oxymoron. אשתו כגופו
I’m not following you.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe’s talking about when people who would otherwise have worn their hat during all of davening go on to get married and switch to a tallis, they either only cover their head with it for minimal amounts of davening, or never at all.
Not all if davening is equal – when wearing a hat, it’s easier to keep it on. It’s not a downgrade b’shita, the hat wasn’t worn the entire davening other than out of convenience.
I don’t believe not covering during Shacharis Shemoneh Esreh is common for ir those who wear a hat for other tefillos.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReally no hatred is baseless since the hater will always have what he considers a valid basis. And who are we to determine what is and isn’t valid? Therefore, there is no such thing as sinas chinom and we should all hate each other as we please, as the Torah instructed us to.
Stay tuned for more YCT teshuvas.
Thank you for getting my point.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe way I heard it, he had two wives, one old and one young. The young one pulled out all his gray hairs so he would look young, and the old one pulled out all his black hairs so he would look old, leaving the poor man completely bald and beardless.
That’s a moshol in the Gemara, not a true story.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHow do u know his phone wasn’t meushar.
Why should I assume it was?
Also what was he wearing that gave u the idea that he wasn’t so religious?
I didn’t want to get so specific, but I will say that he looked more religious than me, not less.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHealth, if you have something to say, please just say it.
The games are silly.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt depends what you mean by “change the halacha”.
It won’t change the underlying halacha, but can change the applicability.
Examples:
Lo silbash. Western styles have some influence on what’s considered beged isha.
Hocheach tochiach: someone influenced by Western culture (we all are to some degree) might be influenced better by certain means than someone raised in a different culture. This is related to the potching issue as well.
Bein adam l’chaveiro (including sholom bayis). If people in a certain culture are offended by certain things which aren’t considered offensive in a different culture, you shouldn’t subject them to it. For example, Israelis have certain tough mannerisms which are considered rude in the USA (they probably consider us soft).

June 13, 2018 8:39 am at 8:39 am in reply to: Is there a connection between unpaid Shadchanus and the blazing Shidduch crisis? #1538510☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou could pay shadchans a million dollars a second and it wouldn’t change anything as long as they keep perpetuating a 4-5 year age gap between males and females.
Your point is correct, but I doubt it’s as much as 4-5 years.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSee רש”י in :שבת לב that חנם means where it’s not justified להלכה, and see משך חכמה in כי תצא that it’s almost never מותר.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSee the Rashbam Vaykro 19:14.
You must mean 19:17.
Anyhow, he’s not defining חנם.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI never knew baseLESS means valid base
So it’s not sinas chinom if I hate someone because he dresses differently than me?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBut what if you are the others and the others are you?
Then you’re just hurting yourself. Like smoking. Or using smartphones.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, I’m married and have lots of money.
I think that’s an oxymoron.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantT2t, I have no idea what hypocrisy you’re talking about.
The people who wear hats for Mincha and Maariv do cover their heads for Shacharis, at least for Shemoneh Esreh and krias Shema.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes how else is chinam transalated?
Without valid basis (which is a pretty high bar)
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantif you think he was doing something wrong that isn’t baseless
I don’t understand – if you think finding a fault in someone is valid basis to hate them, there’s no such thing as sinas chinom, because nobody is perfect.
You must understand sinas chinom the same way @popa_bar_abba does.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIs it possible that he needs the smartphone to stay in touch with a Smokers Anonymous support group?
If so, it obviously wasn’t working.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantpopa_bar_abba:
Welcome to the CR! Always nice to see new names here.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantand I sat next to a a guy who happened to need to check his phone for 1 second
My friend suspects that it wasn’t actually the guy sitting next to you, that checking his phone wasn’t actually necessary, and that it was for more than one second.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThey were both wrong
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBlack magic/witchcraft
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe’s complaining about people already going 5 mph over the limit. A few mph more, and you can definitely get a ticket.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBulbul, just to be clear, how fast do you think one should drive?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe law in NJ is that the left lane is for passing. It is not meant for staying there the whole time.
The law is also that you’re not allowed to exceed the speed limit.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDY:I believe he is discussing the sections around when going south from exit 120-89 where the speed limit is 70 MPH.
I believe it’s 65.

☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGoing 15 mph over the speed limit is a kiddush Hashem?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSay “Good question, I don’t know the answer” every time. And get used to saying it; you’ll have to say it often.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou’re welcome.
