The weirdest thing I’ve done this week?

I am doing it right now!

Hanging out in the Coffee Room instead of spending my time doing something worthwhile…

“Why do some people say “Shalosh Seudos”? They are not eating three meals at once. “Third Meal” is “Seuda Shelisheet/s/th (for Teimanim). “

Same reason why people say “gonna” and “wanna” instead of “going to” and “want to”….people are lazy!

Can’t explain further…I gotta run ta the store cause I wanna buy food for Shala shudis….

147: I don’t mean to offend you in any way, and I admire your love for Eretz Yisroel, but I can’t resist asking you one simple question.

Do you say Hallel on Purim?

If your answer is no, does that make you ungrateful for the fact that the Jewish nation wasn’t wiped out?

Of course we should be grateful for Eretz Yisroel! But I, personally, would not say Hallel on a day when there’s not mitzva to say Hallel – regardless of how grateful I may be.

    Daas Yochid,

    Okay, I hear you.

But, to the best of my knowlege, Yom Yerushalayim is a day when we can thank Hashem for the oportunity to daven at the Kosel.

Okay, I hear that you would rather have the Bais Hamikdash. So would I. But since we don’t…I’ve been to the Kosel before, and apreciated the experience.

Why are you comparing the Kosel to a treif lollypop?

    Coffee addict,

“It’s like a little kid happy he got a lollipop for giving up $100”

But what if he didn’t “give up” the $100?

What if it was just lost and he doesn’t know how to get it back?

If that’s the case, he may indeed enjoy his lollypop.

Life may or may not be fair, but WE have an obligation to act as fairly as possible when dealing with other people.

And yes, life is fair. Do you really thing Hashem would ever allow anything to happen that was really unfair?

You should throw the cake in the garbage.

If it belongs to a Jew, you should not return it to them – for obvious reasons.

If it belongs to a non-Jew, there is no mitzva of returning lost items to their owner.

    Any other opinions?

The moral of the bus story:

Yidden are not allowed to have enemies.

Since the story says that this person DID have an enemy, it must have been refering to a Rasha who it is a mitza to hate.

Since he was trying to do a mitzva (slapping the Rasha), he was saved from being on the bus that crashed.

    Regarding giving other people rides…

I know a true story – someone was driving on a freezing cold winter morning and saw some children standing at a bus stop waiting for their bus. He felt sorry for them and offered to drive them to their school so they shouldn’t have to wait outside in the cold.

What the driver did not realize is that the children’s mother was watching them from the window of her house(two houses away), and she was too far to do anything but she was horrified to see her children getting into a stranger’s car. She was also terrified for their safety.

Does anyone think that the driver did the right thing?

I once heard a fabulous parable for this..

There was once a king who hosted a grand banquet for his entire kingdom. People came from far and near to partake in the celebration. Among the people who came was a dear friend of the king.

After the celebrations were over, the king called over his friend and said, “Lets sit down to a small meal, just you and me. It doesn’t matter what we eat – we can even eat leftovers – the main thing is for us to spend some private time together.”

The first two seudos of Shabbos are compared to the grand banquet that the king made. Seudo Shlishis, which is the most elevated of all the Shabbos seudos, is where Hashem tells us, “I don’t care what there is to eat, I just want to spend some private time with you.”

THIS IS A TRUE STORY! (unfortunately)

A busy mother, after spending a long time cleaning for Pesach, spotted her small son eating a wafer(!) in a room that had already been cleaned.

When she admonished him, he replied, “it’s okay – I first made sure it had no crumbs on it”

Takahmamash, if you notice visitors in your dream shul, perhaps you would like to show them where they should sit?

I recently davened in Rabbi Tenker’s shul, in Brooklyn (I was there for a simcha). Soon after I walked in, a woman greeted me, asked me if I was there for the Simcha, and showed me where to sit.

It was one of the most thoughtful things I have ever experienced, and I really appreciated it.

And if you think you stil have 14 days to get ready for Pesach, you’re in trouble.

Or do frogs not celebrate Pesach in any case?

    Mavmav,

“Hashem put pesach where we can’t have chometz right after purim when we get boxes full of chometz!!! Hashem is hilarious!!! “

During the story of Purim, all the Yidden fasted on Pesach.

This is Pesach’s way of having the last laugh.

Pesach has a sense of humor!

In all areas of life, we encounter people who are self-centered, careless or annoying. Usually we’re able to deal with them without “losing it”.

When we drive, we also encounter people who are self-centered, careless, or annoying…only now, their behavior is putting us in danger!

That’s why it’s much harder to deal with it calmly.

    But we do try.
