Neville-I am not sure what people you are referring to and what it takes to be a part of Neville’s scientific community, but what does attention deficit have to do with intelligence. That is like saying I can’t be on the NBA bec I can’t see the basket. I see fine:I can’t be on the NBA because I don’t have the physique, stamina, endurance aim and a host of other things.(corrected some mistakes)

Yes there is a distinction. Hashgacha is toeles. One is allowed to protect Jewish from eating potentially non-kosher food. Is is the obligation of a kashruth agency and a rabbi to inform there constituents about what is permitted and not. There is no obligation and no no hochech tochiach on food preference even on objective food preference. I think that if you learn a lesson a day it can be very helpful towards getting more clarity in these laws:

I do believe there are dangers with psychologythat are sometimes ignored. I do believe sometimes psychology can be over diagnosed. Many people in this thread however are highlighting the major issue that the poster raised about stigmas in our communities. There are serious psychological issues some of wich can be seen on a brain scan and empirically proven. It isn’t simply ok to dismiss a tremendous amount of research and effective methodology based on your feelings. And yes hundreds of years ago there were no psychologists. People also gave birth at home the infant mortality rate was ENOURMOUS.

In some communities it is customary to put in that tenai. It means if that would CS happen it would theoretically be acceptable to marry another wife that isn’t actually practiced in today’s day and age.

Rambam says that the way in wich moshiach will come is unknown to us. It is closed to the prophets and there is no tradition wich explains it. It is based on the reading of pesukim.Thusly there are disputes about these things. A person should not become too involved or spend to much time in these matters for they do not bring fear or love of heaven.Rather a person should believe in general. In other words this is an exercise of futility.

The question wich the thread is dealing with seems more like a question in terminology than anything else especially relevant. We all agree Israel right now is far from ideal and that there are some aspects theat are historicaly very good

Sephardim as a group didn’t officially ever discontinue polygamy although the level of prevalence has varied. In some Sephardic communities it prob didn’t really exist at least not over the last 200 yrs or so

Clearly none of us have any clue when and how moshiach will come. Everyone seems to have very strong opinions but that are based on pure conjecture. But perhaps it is possible based on the explosion of the Kiruv moment and the exponential population growth of observant Jews that we will in the very distant future gain more influence until observant Jews take over Israeli institutions

Does anyone still object to having some speeches in Yiddish? Does anyone still take issue with the way the siyums are conducting in terms of language
