it does as a matter of fact it may even become a mitzvah but these questions really should not be asked on the internet they need to be asked to a rov or rebbe who can help you and go through the whole sugya of tsuvah its a very big sugya hatzlacha, vihaba litaher misayin oiso

i know that gemara but i believe that gemara is talking about stam a yarlmulka or special head covering worn by married men (see rashi there), we find in the gemara that abaiyei had a special choshuva sudra (cloth head covering)actually the minhag of wearing yarlmulkas only started during the times of the gemara. al kol panim im still looking for the gemara that hello99 quoted!! till then i rest my case that everyone used to wear talleisim till they could not afford it and it became a chasuna gift a gutten kvitel un a gut gibentched yur

just a correction to Ben Torah:

many, actually i think most bnei askenaz (the term rav mordche shwab used for yekkes) start talleisim way before bar mitzvah some start at age three. also it used to be that everyone wore talleisim before the chasuna the reason why most people today dont wear a talis till their chasuna is becaue they didnt have money to buy one and it became a chasuna gift from the kallah

Oh please give me a break only bad can come out of mixed seating, we have shadchanim for dates. Also this is not a gzeira al gzeira mixed seating can lead to THE aveira!! need i spell it out please dont make me.Furthermore there should be no reason why someone should want mixed seating if not for taiva/aveira i think everyone understands the matzev just some hide their understanding because of taiva!

The basic reason why mixed seating is assur is because of a siyug. A siyug or geder is something the chachomim are goizer to protect the torah. There is a posuk in the Torah that says “usu mishmeres limishmarti” which means make a gaurd for my watching. This is mitzvas aseh on the Chachomim to make gizeiros so people wont come to be oiver an aveirah. separate seating is to a gzeirah because we all know that one thing leads to the next and mixed seating can lead to aveiros.

    Dear Wolfish:

I did not say that shorts are assur because of chukas hagoy, rather I said it was a matter of tznius (see where I quote Rav Chaim Epstien). Furthermore I was replying to your latest post,in which you quoted me saying,”people have to learn to be mikabel”.In that sentence I wasn’t making the case that shorts are assur because of chukas hagoy rather,I was saying in general the feeling that I got from the posters was that there was fun being made.It seemed to me that it was coming from the mere fact that they never heard about such an issur, and that is what bothered me and caused me to write “people have to learn to be mikabel”. Now you’ll ask what does learning to be mikabel, and making fun have to do with each other? The answer is it stems from not being mikabel and therefore giving them a “right” in their minds to poke fun.

I’m sorry that my words were hard to understand.I hope it didn’t cause any loss of sleep.I didn’t realize that YWN coffee room readers, were of the highest educated people who cant take a paragraph apart. The reason why I didn’t punctuate last post, was because it was a rant.I couldn’t take what was being said so I let it out.In reply to WOLFISH, the sentence you quote is not my own chidush. You are a perfect example of what I said. I just was saying people should think before they make fun of frumkeit! Thank you

a tunabeigel is a chasidishe guy who goes off the chasidish derech there are many levels of tunas some go way off and dont look like yidden at all but then you hear them rip out a chasidishe yiddish you know you met a tuna. some of them just decide to become litvish, others wear their white polo shirts tucked into their black jeans with small yarlmulkas and curled peyos behind their ears so there not so off just “chilling out”. there is another group of them known for shady business “ich hub a hooked up cadi mit a cherry light” where the money comes from i dont know. basicly if youre with the program you know one when you see one!!

    oiy vey kids

i realized that you dont think we should be starving bald people but you were making fun of the concept of shorts being chukas hagoy only because you never heard of it and thats a huge problem in todays day (end of reply to oiy vey kids) that people dont accept yes certain things are wrong and i dont care if ploini wears shorts to the gym and thats why he is fighting this thread people have to learn to be mikabel stop being stuck up admit that sometimes you are wrong many rabbonim are scared to say things because of the whiplash there gonna get for it and that is plain wrong each person thinks if he is frumer then me then hes fafrumt if hes less frum then me hes modernish many gedolim over the years have spoken about the fifth chelek of shulchan aruch i.e. mesilas yishorim orchois tzadikim theses are halachois too anyway all those who say “voo shteit” prob dont keep the rest of shulchan aruch its just an excuse “voo shteit” its a sickness that must be cured please post the whole post thanx

in our crazy society kids rule their parents when i was a kid no q’s asked you were told you listen if not then you get a potch and then you listened now kids ignore their parents and they dont potch so the kids realize ignore and it will all be good potching is a good thing but not out of anger only out of love i once heard from a musser giant if a rebbe wants to potch wait a half hour after the deed then you can potch for chinuch out of love and you know its not from anger

to all those who dont understand what chukas hagoi means besides things that stem from avoida zara ther is also a issur to act or dp things that are done davka by goyim breathing and being clothed is not chukas hagoy cuz yidden were always breathing its thingd started by goyim i.e. going to sport stadiums or arenas to watch games many hold that is chukas hagoy the romans started it (side point they made them to watch jews fight bears and lions and how ironic that jews stream to those very arenas) anyway HARAV CHAIM EPSTEIN once said in a shmooz that its assur for bachurim to wear shorts in public he also said tznius does apply to men as well

    well said max well!

    dear josh31:

what does knowing english have to do with a secular studies program, and why would a talmid chacham of this dor have to be well schooled in english speaking; it is just fine. if a talmid chacham has secular knowledge, it taints his daas torah. in eretz yisroel, in many frum chadarim, the rebbe teaches math basic math that you will need in life; not math A or math B which is a total waste of time. who needs social or american history, it all clogs the brain and takes up room from torah.

all the comments missed the boat!! limudei choil at best is very bideeved the problem is that people dont chap this! PEOPLE ALSO DONT CHAP THAT PARNOSA IS ONLY A PI’TUR FROM TORAH. there is actually a machlokes between rav baruch ber and the chofetz chaim if parnasa falls under oines that you cant learn or youre patur from torah BUT BOTH OF THEM ARE ONLY BIDEEVED!!! we live in a world that people think “making it big” is their tafkid in life people force their sons out of learning to go to the “real world” rachmana litzlan on this haskafa! just realize the iker is torah period thats it everything else is sides

IF YOU OFFERED ME FOR A EIDIM A BUCHUR WHO LEARNS 12 HOURS A DAY AND AGAV HE SMOKES (not 2 packs a day) OR A BOCHER WHO LEARNS 10 HOURS A DAY BUT SPENDS THOSE TWO HOURS ON THE INTERNET ON KOSHER SITES ONLY I WOULD PICK THE FIRST ONE AND SO WOULD MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENT HERE WHEN IT COMES LIMASEH
