common saychel, I don’t know the truth of this story but it will demonstrate the importance of intention. A rav was speaking about the churban of the Beis Hamikdesh and how Hashem misses the sacrifices. There was an am haaretz who heard this, so he tells his wife to bake two chalahs. He takes the chalahs and places it into the Aron Hakodah. A poor shames saw this and took it. The man comes back and sees that the chalahs are gone, so he thinks Hashem took his chalahs, spreads it around and he continues bringing the chalahs. The news travels around and Rav hears what he was saying. He obviously does not believe it and wants to see what is happening. He sees as the shames takes it. He tells the am haaretz, you think Hashem needs your chalahs, the shames took it. The Rav had a dream telling him, because you revealed this, you must die r’l as Hashem did not enjoy something as much since the destruction of the temple.

There is a halacha O’CH 62 MB s’k 2 saying that one who reads krias shema by enounciating the letters correctly, the gehinam is cooled down for him. The Tzetil Katan says that our purpose in life is to change our nature. Yosef changed his nature by resisting the advances of Potifar’s wife, Hashem changed the nature of the sea to make it split. Hashem changes the nature of the gehinam for one who changes his own nature by enounciating the letters of krias shema correctly.

Steinzaltz emphasized his own commentary over everything else by not placing it on the bottom of the page or another page. The Dubner Magid interprets Hilel’s statement by a parable. A young man took his uncle as a financial advisor. He was constantly told that he is losing money. Eventualy he had enough and went for an advice to another person. He told him, you should know your uncle is a ganev and you must separate yourself from him. The yetzer hara makes himself look like his friend. Know, whoever has hatred towards you, don’t make him your friend.

Why could Steinzaltz not put his commentary in the original on another page or on the bottom thereby making his commentary more important than anything else? What we have is the Vilna format.

The Chasan Sofer has a nice interpretaton on the gemora שלחו מתם הזהרו במנהג אבותיכם watch for minhagim because maybe the heavenly kingdom will institute ch’v a bad decree, the minhag of our fathers will be able to abolish it.

The quote something from the Ibn Ezra on lo sachmod, owning something that does not belong to us should be as far reaching like a viliager does not desire a princess. With this I explained in Shir Hashirim on toumai tzeviah, where the ten commandments can be read accross. Rashi connects that one who desires something not his looks down at his father. What is the connection? Maybe, he does not respect the status of his father and therefore, will desire a princess.

I did not say the Chavas Yair talks about the host case but a chumra like gebrochts is not obligatory on the children therefore this chumra is not set in stone and can be set aside for ben adam lechavero not to show off being more religious than the host.

If the father follows the Rabbenu Taam’s shkiah, then the children must follow it as it has to do with an issur and not a chumra. At least kitniyos was assered by rishonim as mentioned by the Mordechai 588, and the RMA O’CH 553,1, whereas gebrochts, to my knowledge, became a custom in the 18th century as mentioned in the Sharei Teshuva O’CH 460 s’k 10. They say that potatoes were not included in kitniyos as the geonim did not have any. When the Chayei Adam wanted to asser potatoes, they said you are taking away the Chayei Adam.

I did not see the shaila in א’מ above of being invited and standing out by showing that he is better than the host. We show respect to the host. I did not paint with a broad brush as I excluded kitniyos being an issur from the geonim and not a recent chumra. Kitniyos is also assur on the last day of pesach whereas gebrochts is mutar. The shaila is whether to follow the host or stick by your own chumros which I did not see resolved. Obviously, we don’t break minhagim for no reason.

Steinzaltz changed the tzuras hadaf and removed hagohus, so we avoid him and Rebbi Meir looked at names which is translated to Netziv Melach. The Churban came because of sinas chinom, so Meshiach comes when we have unity. I think he is wrong. There is a cute story where Meshiach comes and goes to a shul wearing a hat with the brim turned upwards, so he is told, we wear the brim over here downwards. He goes to anorher shul having it downwards, he is told to wear it upwards. When he goes to another shul, they tell him, what do you need a hat altogether. He says, I am going back, you can’t even agree on a hat.

The Midrash Shmuel says that the Beis Shamai by its arguments helped the Beis Hilel to see the truth and not having tunnel vision seeing only one side, so they are also praise worthy. This can be the meaning that the Beis Hilel, because of their humility, allowed the Beis Shamai to come first, by hearing their view first.

If someone not eating gebrochts is invited to the seder by someone eating gebrochts, the not eating can follow the eating, the host. as it is only a chumra but not kitniyos and I don’t think he has to be matir neder for one time. When in Rome, do like the Romans do.

Why is Shekolim added to the Daf Yomi from the Yerushalmi? Maybe it gives us hope for the building of the Beis Hamikdash by unifying all of us. The Kaftor Voferach tells the story where Rav Chaim from Paris at turn of 5000 millenium wanted to sacrifice a Korban Pesach without a Beis Hamikdash. The Chasan Sofer explains that he was unable to sacrifice a tamid as it needs unity through the collection of shekolim from everyone.

The Haflaah in Sefer Panim Yafos, Parshas Bo, says that a kashyeh comes from Heavenly Intervention, siata dishmaya. He gives a parable to a simple person who received a diamond. He did not know what to do with it but he liked gold. He goes to a goldsmith to cover it in gold. He was not the best expert, so he left some holes. The simple person only sees the gold but the smart person sees the diamond underneath the gold. The Chasam Sofer explains the means of being mechadesh something. All chidushim lie in the Torah hidden but they need to be revealed through a kashyeh. I explained according to this the comparison to the Torah the sweetening of the bitter well with a bitter tree. Sometimes someone learns a piece of gemora being so confused that he can’t even ask a kashyeh. He receives the siyata dishmaya and now he is able to ask a kashyeh but without an answer it is still bitter. When an answer comes to mind, it becomes sweet.

The holy Ohr Hachaim says on lo siso, don’t use Hashem’s name to elevate yourself by making yourself look frum. It says in the Chasan Sofer haggadah from my rebbi Rav Shmuel Ehrenfekd, the Matersdorfer Rav ztz’l on the pasuk E-l deos Hashem, where it is eaay to differentiate a tzadik and a rasha but when both utter the name of Hashem, we need daas, special understanding to differentlate who means it honestly or just to look good.

I am on my own as my wife passed away around eleven years ago and my children are married away from home. I am happy to be invited after more than ten days after my J & J vaccination. In ho lachmo anyo we invite people in our house but the door is closed. The Binah Leitim explains that we want to make our guests feel good by telling them that we were in the same boat like you are. We also came from poverty as our guest. It says ויסב אלקים דרך המדבר ים סוף Hashem sent us in a round about way through the desert, so the midrash says מכאן שאפילו עני שבישראל לא יאכל עד שיסב, we see from here that even a poor person from among the Jews should not eat until reclining. The question is that yasev is used with two different meaning? They answer that when Hashem led the Jews, they had nothing and had to completely rely on Him. Similarly, the poor person can trust Hashem that he will be helped and sit reclined.

We weaken the tooth of the rasha. The Taamei Haminhagim says that Kiddush Levanah helps for tooth ache. What is the connection? Maybe, when we remove shinov (366) from rasha (570) we are left with tzadik (204). It says in Kiddush Levanah, לא יוכלו אובי לנגוע בי לרעה my enemies including the yetzer hara should not able to cause harm towards me. We are saying, let the zechus of Kiddush Levanah resist the above operation of weakening the teeth to become a tzadik. The rasha is questioning milah for korban pesach as he was not born with it, so we tell him that you weren’t born with your teeth either.

Sometimes they don’t ask because they think they know everything which is dangerous. The Chasan Sofer explains the chacham not tzadik the opposite of rasha. They both seem to be excluding themselves. However the chacham behaves in clever fashion in order the rasha should reveal himself by thinking that he has a partner in crime, the chacham, saying you are a rasha as you exclude yourself, I am also a rasha.

Them Maasei Hahem ties the four questiions to the four children. There are four categories. something more or extra, something less or somerhing different found by the kashrus of the lung. The chacham asks on ostentatiousness over doing, like the dunking twice, the rasha on the lack of chametz and the tam on something being different than usual like the morar. The sheaino yodea lishol might also wonder about and recognize, maybe, the emphasis on haughtiness, gaiva as reclining which we avoid the whole year.

The Ksav Sofer explains that בעבור זה is used both for the sheina yodea lishol and the rasha. He says, be careful when he is young when he is not asking, not knowing when to ask, answering by themselves for not being listened to, in order that they should not become a rasha.

There are three answers for the less time worked, which the Haggadah emphasizes, the number of peoole working, hard work, kushei hashibud and the Shechina in exile. Gadol atzum, vayoreu osonu and vayotzienu Hashem, by Himself for the sake of the shechina. They say a parable for the Shechina in exile. A father exiles his son who says to his father, how can I be sure you forget about me? The father answers that I will also send your mother and as I will not forget her, I won’t forget you. This is the hidden meaning of ha lachma anya and vehih sheamdah.

There is an argument whether everyone should have a cup or just the seder leader as usually by kiddush. I think, it will depend on the reason for it. If the reason is because of sar hamashkin as explained above, then its only a symbolism, so it does not have to be felt and to have an enjoyment from it. However, when the reason as the Bavli is, arguing on the Yerushalmi, for the four expressions of redemptions then we were all involved and personal enjoyment is necessary. The GRA explains that the cup of Eliyahu is the fifth cup for the safek of vahevesi, I will bring you, which was temporary and Eliyahu will resolve. Tishbu it does not say Eliyahu. Maybe, the Chasam Sofer asks how can we rely on Eliyahu when the Torah does not reside in heaven? He answers that when Eliyahu appears as a human being, he is as good as everyone else. This being is implied by the person coming from his residence will answer all of our questions.

Look at the Sefer Hachinuch in his hakdama saying that six hundred thousand people would not pass over, inherit false principles to their children but what they saw with their own eyes. We just found a new meaning for Passover, tradition. This also explains why we start Pirkei Avos on Passover as the Torah was passed over to forty gernerations.
