For those that are denigrating the so-called dress code of the yeshiva velt it would do to keep in mind that all in-groups have a dress code. If you live outa town and wear pointy dainty black shoes on shabbos then you are the odd one out. if you’re a tech guy and wear a suit, high schooler with a button-down shirt, and so on. We as humans need a way of externally communicating where we belong, hence the levush. Those individuals that ignore the in-group dress code are either oblivious and therefore treated differently or super confidant if one is neither they should try to fit in and belong to whichever group they find themselves in. IN conclusion, charles trywitt and some basic loafers should do it.

computer science is an abstract degree like mathematics and essentially useless much more prudent would be a course in programing outside of traditional college setting ie boot camp or vocational school. Morever all of this exists in the frum world

I don’t see why we should care often people at extreme ends of IQ distribution are quite idiotic in many common sense areas for example einstein was a pacifist which is obviously idiotic

We should have the police doing their job without hindrance and interference from askanim and it will all go away. There is no reason why our teens should be treated as above the law.

FIrst of all, they trace parts of the religion to religions 2 thousand years old that trace parts from another older one etc. Secondly, they don,t have a clear central “mythology” only a central focus ie philosophy. Therefore the claim that judaism comes from them is ridiculous on its face as is not even thought of in the academic world that studies far east religions. It seems to just be what happens when you have people that don’t know anything about judaism or hinduism seeing a couple of similarities and becoming “groiser chachomim”.

It just so happens that every yeshivish rebbe seems to think that it’s very important to teach how bad chabad is and that the rebbe was a ” koifer”. I’m not sure why, he passed on close to 30 years ago, unless maybe they think he’s still alive 😉.

this all just shows that state is not the proper way to do things. a free market school system would by definition not have these challenges

overrated, it’s not like they’re doing this all the time. you’re referring to isolated incidents. which do show a worrying trend but are not really a huge deal.

people crave attention and we should give it to them. however there is a new way in which people demand our time and that’s not acceptable. it happens at least a few times a week that somebody wants to show me some clip on their phone or demands that a listen to some song (isn’t it great?). this is beyond all pale of normalcy and must be purged from our society asap.

interesting how everyone thinks adhd is a hyperactivity problem. hyperactivity is only 1 of approx 20 symptoms and not necessary for a diagnosis. i believe we need to make a distinction between childhood and adult adhd with the adult version being the actual disorder. data shows that two thirds of children diagnosed with adhd outgrow it, that appears to signal that it is way over-diagnosed for all the valid arguments listed above. however adult adhd causes all sorts of issues including depression self-centeredness and social awkwardness because of failure to get things done and failure to properly perceive the world around them.

I know 2 chasanim that are 19 u couldn’t find more mature or responsible people. I also know a 22 year old chosen who is not mature at all. Age is apparently not a metric.

yossel pupik: i don’t appreciate amaratzus on that same daf it says hu lun vehu lehu and rashi explains that it means that if you have hirhurim you should get married anyways. furthermore if you’ll open a shulchan aruch even ezer 1:3 you’ll see in the niesei kelim that not marring because of bittul torah is only if you defeated your yetzer hora. i don’t believe that that all litvishe bochurim have no hirhurim hence according to halacha they must get married before 20.
