Toi – I thought you weren’t in the US. I guess I would have to mail it then. Or come to a starbucks in Chicago and I’ll run some over! I never tried pickles with my coffee but I am willing to consider it.

twisted – not at all, but my kids sure would. His recipe is a lot like yours but he doesn’t boil the brine and we over-do the garlic. It’s the best part. He also pickles green tomatoes.

The public school district I am at now expects the kids not only to read in kindergarten, but they have to write journals and book reviews too! It has gone from crazy to ridiculous.

I re read your posts several times. The only thing I can guess (I don’t claim to know, I am guessing), is that you don’t realize that your language is sometimes harsh (as you have heard from others as well) and that may be why you are not understanding were the responses are coming from. I will take that into consideration when I read your posts, and try hard not to respond, as you are so often offended when I do.

shnitzy – I’m glad to hear that. I have seen the guy from the back come out and rearrange all the donuts on all the trays to be in even rows without any gloves. I’d rather eat at your place.

This is not the first time you have belittled my comments (eg. I said you shouldn’t eat open muffins, you said that I think a man wipes bacon grease on them with his sleeve) and then called me ‘not nice’ for asking you to be more respectful. If you are not sure what you wrote to “deserve” that response, re-read it. Being sarcastic and putting me down is not necessary.

Thank you for your permission to participate in this discussion.

You’re not having the slightest idea why I should think it, has nothing to do with whether or not I am right or wrong. I do NOT mean this offensively but if I felt my words would be heard instead of dissected I would gladly answer you. Having you decide what my issues are without having heard them, and choosing to verbalize my thoughts as such a ridiculous scenario is very condescending.

Once again, (a recurring theme) – your not knowing does not mean it does not exist.

Would you really eat a kosher product that sits unwrapped in a non-kosher kitchen, touched by people who are touching non-kosher items?

why do people need to explain themselves to you? If someone says they are offended by something, why don’t you just respect it? You don’t have to give a whole arichus about it, just respect it. And why the mods don’t care about this topic has always been beyond me.

telling you to talk to your doctor IS serious advice. You can’t be serious thinking you should be getting information like this here. And any responsible doctor would not tell a teenager what MIGHT be wrong with her. You are going to the doctor tomorrow, ask him.

Hahsem should give you a refuah shlaima.

miritchka – thank you for being so kind, I wasn’t offended, just surprised. I know of so many people it has happened to and I felt bad for people to be thinking of these women as irresponsible. I remember one time needing to rush to the hospital on almost no notice in the middle of the night on Shabbos and by the time I woke my husband up, convinced him that a cab was not an option and waited for him to get dressed, we were almost too late. (The joys of motherhood)

2scents – you are right, it is not common, but it is not a rare occurance by any means and saying that it indicates a lack of responsibility was not always the case. I didn’t mean to blow it up, I just meant to clarify that it wasn’t a fair statement.

miritchka – I am surprised to hear you say that. Do you know how many women don’t go into labor long enough to get to the hospital? Why would you call it irresponsible? Many of my labors started with heavy labor 5 minutes apart and rushing to the hospital still only gave me 10 minutes. I have several friends who had the same thing happen who delivered in street clothes or at home. It is not about responsibility and it is not something to be embarrassed about. A short labor is a bracha, not a busha.

The time I got to the hospital before my doctor I had a whole group of people rushing in to check on me (instead of the normal one or two) and I found it very uncomfortable. People have very different sensitivity levels toward tznius.

Like Gamanit said, in time of medical need it is more important to get care from whomever can deliver it, but in non-life threatening situations I certainly would prefer a woman. I don’t think it in ANY way to be pritzus, I just find it extremely uncomfortable.

If I found popa lying in his own drool I would probably think it was funny to swap his bracelet with someone elses and send them onward. And if women greet them at the respective doors, I am sure they will find it funny too.

Once upon a time there were two seminary girls in shidduchim. One was riding a bus when an old sephardic women told her that she truly believed that her destined one was a short man waiting third in line at the corner makolet. The old women said she knew this was true because today is Wednesday and she is always close to Hashem on Wednesdays. The girl could not believe the hasgocho that she normally never takes this bus and when she does she never talks to sephardic women but today she broke that pattern and ended up sitting next to her so there was no way in the world that it could be coincidence. She decided to get off at the next stop and tell the man she was seriously considering his inevitable proposal but felt she first should eat a few pieces of pizza and then meet with her Eim Bayit and her michaneches.

The other girls was redt a date by a shadchan but felt that he wasn’t spiritual enough for her because his shoes looked worn out and that meant he was obviously not spending enough time sitting at his shtender.

Health – Can you please chill out? You get so many posts from people asking, telling and begging you to stop being so harsh, doesn’t that register? No need to give me a nasty retort, just figure out what stops you from having a civil conversation and start working on it. People may have an easier time hearing your point if it isn’t accompanied by unprecedented put downs.

Maybe I should post my sentences individually to make it easier for you to cut, paste and shred them.

And I’m putting my finger in my ears so I won’t hear if you answer. This message is for you to digest, not regurgitate.

Women go to male obstetricians all the time.

But never to my son’s Rebbe or my husband’s chavrusa. Sorry but I have to strongly disagree on that point. I would probably feel uncomfortable with Hatzolo if my hair was uncovered and I couldn’t cover it up.

WIY – Unfortunately when you fast your body shuts down and stores everything just in case you don’t end up getting food in the near future. I usually hope to catch the flu, it’s much easier to lose weight that way.

Without getting politically involved, I would have to say that few things will feed into the ADHD like video games. Never heard of a DS game that would help. There are some computer games that may be more therapeutic than detrimental but they usually avoid them like the plague.
