Is a 7 year age gap a good thing or a bad thing?
yeh i am for the 2014 year bc i live in the southern hemisphere. thats why im posting now, because i am only applying now
No. hmmm…trying to think of who I can contact….
I understand. Just so frustrating not having connection to any people from those places!! would any south africans maybe have it?
living in a place with not so many jewish people like me is so helpful 😛 can I find the spreadsheet if i search it online?
also what date do people get accepted or have u gotten accepted already??
the seminary in Israel
Who has been accepted into darchei binah,Tomar Devorah or Midreshet Tehillah?
just one inaccuracy, the bricks were made out of limestone and not straw and mud combo. While there are other places in Egypt were mud bricks were found.
there are apparently about 90 people going this year…is anyone online planning on going?
Is anyone going forsure in 2013/14?? What is your hashkafa? Just out of interest…
who is going?? u excited!! and is anyone there now and enjoying it??
could be :S
so is anyone going forsure??
so who is going?? what type of girls? have people been accepted yet?
arriellab1 do you mind me asking what your hashkafa is? also your personality? I am a little loud, outgoing and a little studious. will be interesting to know what youre like and all the other girls applying…
How are the girls enjoying things this year?
no. incorrect grammer can tell u something about the person online, correct grammer inhibits the expression of people’s feelings.
so whose going in 2013/14?? do you know anyone going and what is their personality like?
I have a friend going- lovely, open minded, not so intellectual, but a clever good girl
also why is the darchei binah website down?
other mobile phone plans with international calls??
I know the girls who are applying to DB, not jappy and not applying to places like Sharfmans!! however they are quite diverse in personality. some obviously will like to party, same in every place (some more than others), but theyre all serious girls, the most intellectual ones in their school. chances are girls in DB are more open minded and accepting than ateres, however ther should be some diversity in Ateres. chances are ateres is not as accepting if u would like a job outside a jewish only workplace (teacher at a jewish school) and not if would like u to marry a guy that works (becuase he only studied in yeshivah for 3 years and went to uni to support his family)…
If your wrried about Darchei Binah not being friendly, they have a reputation of having a great eim bayit and nice friendly girls from all over the world. they even allow southern hemisphere kids to come, so chances are there are some south africans and australians too.
Do you also have to pay for dorm utlity fee and laundry fee in darchei binah??
Ateres is an officially BY sem, even though it is modern. their not going to be as accepting when it comes to tertiary education. by being BY they are saying we want u to be the perfect BY girl, every BY sem is a cookie cutter.
Darchei Binah is a lot more guiding rather than strict when it comes to rules. obvously some core ones are set in stone, but they give u the torah and halacha behind it and u choose ur path (obviously they encourage a BY direction).
I know so many solid good girls from where I live who went to both Ateres and Darchei Binah and have come out amazing.
I know a few people applying for the coming year who come from solid frum homes and the BY school here (constantly participating in chesed programs, one of them is super brainy and sweet). You can email me if the MODs allo by giving u my email.
How do you manage money in Israel?? What would u spend on food every month? toiletries? laundry stuff? tec.
i have one vegan and two vegetarians just from my school years. i also have a cousin who is a vegetarian
sounds like brovenders (aka midreshet lindenbaum) may be good for u. does anyone know the positives and challenges of darchei binah as a sem?
Darchei Binah. open minded and beis yaakov directio withoit being an official by sem.
Also it needs to have litvish values…
also i am quite zionistic….
also why is the seminary suited to me?
There is truth in interpretting the zodic through Kaballah, however Jews have control over the Zodiac and it influences us, rather than controls us. Non-Jews however are controlled by the Zodiac
Just saying that the term ‘gay marraige’ is a paradox. by definition marraige is the union between a man in a women. The rate of supposably gay relationships have not chnaged in 10 years (still 4%), even though these relationship have become increasingly accepted in secular society. So Hashem would have done something about that a long time ago. Sandy is a punishemnt for other averos, such as sinas chinam.
what girls are in Darchei Binah this year?
how are dorms in Israel? What are the dorms of Ateres, Meohr and Darchei Binah like?
i always used to keep up appearances as a child pretending i didnt care, but i did. so the above comment is so true!!
Ofcourse it will be hard for the other party, but it was positive in the long run. My opinion is that it is better to break an engagement (however embarresing) than divorcing with kids…
how did the autistic boy deal with everything?
an open style sem..
is there a place where you have to learn the whole of shmuel alef and beis on your own?? Thats perfect for my daughter
what is the typical girl that goes to Darchei Binah?
my neice got into all three she applied to!!
sem is short for seminary. a year of intensive torah study, ussually in israel
haha…so funny. really this is serious!!!February 4, 2012 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm in reply to: What are each of the respective seminaries like that you went to? #849253
Please answer these questions about Machon Raaya, Darchei Binah, and Michlalah:
1.What were you or other people at the seminary looking for in a seminary when deciding?
2.How important is the interview/How intense,etc.- reading of rashi?
3.What is the style of teaching? Discussion, lecture, classroom setting, chavrusa??
4.What type of classes are there?
5.Can you choose your classes?
6.How much work is there? Tests?
7.Is the seminary about getting as much done as possible or learning as much as possible out of each thing? Are tests and work a side factor and they really just want the girls to learn or is work a big factor of importance to the seminary?
8.How hard is it? How hard is hard?
10.The girls who go there is their focus on learning more textually or learning more and growing more spiritually?
12.Are they all about the outside or do they focus on the inside as well?
13.How big of a mix of people is it? Is it hard to find your place?
14.Do they go on trips? Do they go to Europe?
15.Are their rules strict? What are some of their rules?
16.Do they have a uniform?
17.What is the status of the dorm?
19.How many meals are given?
To connect Jews from all over the world
I am worried about the girls. Can you tell me which type goes there?
It is wonderful that there are a lot of men learning, but in these trying times we also need to earn our own parnasa, without putting our parents under strain. It is in fact a mitzvah to earn a parnasa and supporting a family, if only we could do both.
